Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted that it’s festive fundraiser Santas on the Run will be returning to the Eden Project on Sunday 8 th December with Ocean Group as headline sponsor.

The annual fundraising event for CHSW, which runs Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean, used to take place in St Austell town centre, however moved to the Eden Project in 2015 which has seen the event grow in popularity and funds raised. Last year the event saw 500 Santas sprinting around Eden and together they raised £17,000 for Little Harbour.

A young girl with complex medical needs has donated her long locks to a charity that provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss.

Megan Killey, 20, from Halwill Junction near Okehampton, is also hoping that her new-look short hair style will raise money for Children’s Hospice South West, the charity that has supported her and her family for the last 19 years at its Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon.

Emily Parry from Melksham is taking part in the Bath Half Marathon in 2020 for the second year in support of local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Like so many people in their younger days, Emily was a keen sportsperson at school; she particularly enjoyed taking part in the 400m hurdles and played county-level hockey. Going to University was a turning point whereby Emily found other uses for her recreational time - and 10 years later she’d had three children and realised taking part in sports was a distant memory!

An outdoor activity instructor from Honiton is getting ready to walk the entire length of the South West Coast Path this month in memory of his niece.

Paul Boddington, aged 49, is hoping to complete the rugged 1,014km coastline hike from Minehead to Poole in 30 days to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

He will be setting off on Sunday, September 15, walking between 20 and 40 miles each day and mainly camping overnight or staying with friends.

A team from Kitley House Hotel in Yealmpton near Plymouth will be taking part in Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Firewalk which is happening at Kitley House Hotel on Thursday 7 th November.

The Firewalk is a sponsored event which will give people the chance to push their boundaries and challenge perceptions by walking along a path of hot coals at temperatures of 1200˚F while raising vital funds for CHSW.

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is bringing a Firewalk to Cabot Circus in Bristol on Wednesday 20 November and is inviting brave individuals to take on the challenge.

The Firewalk will give people the chance to push their boundaries and walk along a path of hot coals at temperatures of 1200˚F. Sponsorship raised by participants will go towards helping CHSW support over 220 families in the area whose children have been diagnosed with life-limiting conditions. South Devon artist Jenny Brown is taking part in the Devon Open Studios event this month in support of Children’s Hospice South West.

Oils and watercolour painter, Jenny, from Ipplepen near Newton Abbot, is one of 250 artists opening their doors to the public all over Devon from September 7 to 22.

Her study of light and colour is depicted in a variety of subject matter including landscapes and seascapes, floral and figure painting.

Jenny will be exhibiting at The Orangery at Dainton Park Golf Club, with a donation from sales of paintings going to CHSW, which offers respite to more than 500

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) has teamed up with fashion retailer New Look to offer town shoppers an extra big thank you for helping the charity.

New Look has launched a new customer discount initiative to support hospice care by encouraging more people to donate goods to local hospice shops, and CHSW is one the shops chosen to pilot the scheme until 14th September.

The high street store will be offering a 20 per cent discount voucher to anyone who drops in a full bag of donations at the CHSW shop on Colliers Walk, Nailsea.

A Taunton author is hoping a new book inspired by his severely disabled daughter will help bag a £20,000 literary prize to help the two charities that have supported him and his family.

Paul L Arvidson, a full-time carer for 10-year-old Eleanor, affectionately known as ‘Nenna’, has published thriller The Wheels of Cady Grey on Amazon.

Two schoolchildren have conquered the second of two UK mountains and scaled a mammoth fundraising target for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Brother and sister Bodie and Gracie Blake climbed Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak, during their Easter holidays this year and spent time in their summer holidays climbing to the top of Ben Nevis – the UK’s highest.
