Children’s Hospice South West is inviting businesses to get ‘nifty with your fifty’ and take on its new-look £50 Challenge this autumn.
The charity is giving workplace teams an initial £50 and tasking them to see how much money they can raise in just 50 working days, from September 16 to November 22.
Cake sales, raffles, quizzes and workplace fun and games are all encouraged but firms are being challenged to get creative and help make a big difference to their local children’s hospice.

Staff from Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) were delighted to receive a donation of £6000 from Plymouth group the Kingsman.
The Kingsmans group was set up to offer men a social dining group which wasn’t specifically about networking. The Kingsmans started meeting once a month at Charlie Franks restaurant where members would enjoy a meal and form new friendships and contacts with others from around the city. The group has now reached 75 members with between 30 and 40 members meeting up each month.
Monday, June 17 marked the beginning of Children’s Hospice Week - the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospice services across the UK and the seriously ill children and young people they support.
The theme of the week is ‘Moments that matter’ and the local children’s hospice, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), is showcasing the wealth of special memories made for families supported by the charity.
An annual memorial football match played at Kimberly Stadium in Saltash is back on Sunday 30th June and organisers hope for another successful event.
This event is put on each year in memory of Saltash United player Ben Pinkham. Along with their family and friends Ben’s friends Chris Pethick and James Allmett organise the charity football match which is played against the Plymouth Argyle Legends.

The charity’s flagship summer fundraising event takes place at Westpoint on Saturday and money raised will help support 500 children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the South West.
Families are being invited to enjoy a friendly summer music festival vibe in aid of Children’s Hospice South West at Blackmoor Gate next month.
More than 20 live local and national bands will be performing across three stages during the eighth annual Little Bridge Stock music festival at the Old Station House Inn from July 5-6.
A feast of live music will start on the inside stage with Big Fat Blues Band at 6pm on Friday. Yazzy, Quorum and Coast to Coast Discos complete the opening night line-up.
