40 year old Cerwyn Burnett from St Mawes is in full preparation for her 96 mile sponsored walk across the West Highland Way in Scotland later this month and is taking on this challenge to help raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) which supported her family through an incredibly difficult time.
The head of Exeter’s leading health and wellbeing charity will be taking on his own fitness challenge this year.
Jamie Vittles, of CITY Community Trust (CCT), is training for the London Marathon, which takes place in April. And he is running the marathon to raise funds for one of CCT’s charity partners, Children’s Hospice South West
Jamie said:
Tayen from Bridgwater is six years old and has a genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 1. The condition is incurable and causes tumours to grow on nerves anywhere in her body. She has complex epilepsy, hydrocephalus and is fully blind. Tayen has already endured two rounds of chemotherapy and will need more at some point in the future.
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) was delighted to have the support of Somerset County Cricketer, James Hildreth in his 2017 Testimonial Year and on Thursday 8 March 2018, he visited the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple to present a donation for £11,000, raised through all his fundraising activities through the year.

The Ride for Precious Lives is a 205 mile, 3 day, cycling challenge which has been completed by over 750 cyclists over the last nine years and raised an incredible £725,000 for CHSW.
