World-class footballer Mason Mount, is swapping his boots for a controller today (24 December) as he gives four families supported by UK children’s charity, Together for Short Lives, the chance to join their idol for some festive gaming fun.


As patron for Together for Short Lives, the charity here for the 99,000 seriously ill children and their families across the UK, Mason Mount has helped to make memories that will last a lifetime by joining some very deserving young gamers for one-on-one matches against him, streamed across Youtube and Twitch. Harry pedals his way to £560 donation

8 year old Harry Crocker from Saltash spent the month of November cycling a mile every day, on a static bike, to raise money to help children and families supported by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Harry decided to take on the challenge in memory of his nephew Isaac who died just 8 days old in September 2021. Harry was inspired by his older sister Sam; Isaac’s mum, who works as a carer on the team at Little Harbour and has been raising funds in Isaac’s memory for the hospice.

Young fundraisers spread Christmas cheer

A group of budding young entrepreneurs from Bridgwater have been busy making and selling reindeer food and have raised over £200 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Brother and sister Jude age 7 and Tabby aged 5, along with family friend Emillie, made 125 bags of Magic Reindeer Food and sold it for £1 a bag.


Jude and Tabby’s brother, Logan, has a range of complex needs and he and his family are supported by CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in North Somerset.


Mum Liz said: “The children have £208.60 but there may be more to come! They've had so much fun doing it.”

Chippenham Borough Lands Charity (CBLC) has awarded Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) a grant of £10,000.


CHSW provides expert children’s hospice care for life-limited children and their families, including many families from Chippenham.


CHSW was established 30 years ago by Eddie Farwell and his late wife Jill. As parents of life-limited children themselves, their mission was to ensure that no family in the South West should have to travel for more than an hour and a half for children’s hospice services.

Bristol Santas on Bikes raise £20K for CHSW

Did you witness hundreds of Santas on a Bikes driving through Bristol on Saturday 4 December, spreading much festive cheer?


The huge turn-out was in support of the city’s only dedicated children’s hospice facility, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and has so-far raised more than £20,000 for the charity which cares for children with life limiting conditions and their families.


Santas on a Bike has supported CHSW for over 15 years. Last year, due to the pandemic, they held the event virtually but were determined to make this year’s event spectacular.

Celebrating 7st weight loss by taking on Bath Half

Em Bryan from Melksham in Wiltshire has signed up to take part in the Bath Half Marathon in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


Em only began running at the beginning of 2020 and has lost 7 stone in the process.


She said: “I'm running the Bath Half for CHSW as a celebration that I'm literally half the person I once was. I picked up the Couch to 5k app and started running to manage stress and improve my health overall. I've always held CHSW close to my heart and I'm honoured to be able to do something to help them in this way.”

The Big Bauble Hang is back in Clevedon

Last year the Grimstead family raised a whopping £1,723.77 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) when they invited passers-by to hang a bauble on their wisteria tree in exchange for a donation.


Lucy Grimstead, said: “Last year we had so much fun watching our tree become even more beautiful. So, with your help we’d love to get that total even bigger for CHSW this year.”

Lighting up Spencer Drive again this Christmas

John Burge from Worle has done it again and completely transformed his house in Spencer Drive into a Victorian toyshop to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).


The shop is called TJ Toys and it’s been named after John and his 12-year old son Tobie.


Each year John and Tobie have make the display bigger and even more impressive. This year, if you peer into the shop windows you can watch the moving elves and other mechanical objects.


Last year John raised a staggering £3275.54 for CHSW and would love to raise as much money as possible this year for the charity that is so close

Ithan busking to raise funds for sisters hospice

11 year old Ithan Hancock from Tresillian has been busking with his cornet in Waitrose Truro each Saturday in December to raise funds for a charity that is a lifeline to his family.

Ithan has raised over £290 and counting for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) which cares for his sister Rosa and his whole family at its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.

Speaking about why he wanted to raise funds for Little Harbour Ithan said;

Hospices’ Light Up a Life appeal will support families in grief

For a quarter-of-a-century, North Devon’s Light Up a Life appeal has given local people the chance to remember a loved one in the run up to Christmas, while helping to support the vital work of the region’s two hospice charities – Children’s Hospice South West and North Devon Hospice.

Remembering and being able to normalise feelings of grief is a special part of the care provided by both charities. Difficult discussions around death, dying and grief; conversations which often can’t be had with family or friends; understanding it’s okay not to be okay. Everyone needs different kinds of
