Rugby heroes hold virtual storytime session for CHSW children and families

Exeter Chiefs players delighted Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) children and families by holding a virtual story time session.

Players Jack Maunder, Joe Simmonds and Tom O'Flaherty joined 13 families at home via video call, as well as care teams at the charity’s three children’s hospices, for a special reading of Jack’s motivational new children's book, Bounce Back Jack!

10k Your Way Open for Entires

Keen Plymouth runner and fundraiser Leesa Pethick is organising a virtual 10k event to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) in it’s 30th anniversary year. 

Leesa is encouraging people to complete 10k however they wish; running, hopping, skipping, walking, even paddle boarding between 7 – 21 March 2021. There is a £7 entry fee for the event, everyone taking part will receive a celebratory medal and certificate after completing their 10k and all profits will be donated to CHSW. 

Strictly Come Biking for Karen through Lockdown

For anyone who says you cannot look glamorous while exercising in lockdown, Karen Lane is putting them to shame as she is currently two weeks into her Strictly Come Biking challenge.

Karen, usually known for teaching all styles of dance to all ages at Dance Factory in St Austell and Trewoon, has swapped the dancefloor for a static bike and has set herself a Strictly Come Biking challenge. 

Julie Completes Triple January Charity Challenge

Julie Cherry, from Par near St Austell in Cornwall, has recently raised over £270 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) after completing her triple January challenge; running everyday in January, Veganuary and Dry January. 

Self confessed hater of all things PE at school, Julie only completed her first ever parkrun back in January 2020 but then started running more regularly throughout the year to get out more during the year’s lockdowns.

Key workers at a North Devon pharmacy have been going above and beyond during the Covid pandemic.

As well as ensuring customers have been able to continue to pick up vital prescriptions, staff at the Bear Street Pharmacy in Barnstaple have sold homemade face masks to raise hundreds of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021.
