A team of employees from one of North Somerset’s largest employers is getting ready to take on Ride for Precious Lives 2026.

Colleagues from Edwards in Clevedon will once again take part in Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Ride for Precious Lives, which takes place from 10–12 July, marking the 13th year in a row the company has entered a team into the event.

This year’s sold-out challenge will see 13 members of the Edwards team joining 84 fellow cyclists to complete a 212-mile route from Charlton Farm children’s hospice in Wraxall to Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is thrilled to announce that iconic South West duo, Judi Spiers and the legendary Gus Honeybun, are joining forces with the charity to make birthdays magical once again.

Gus Honeybun, who appeared on our screens for more than 30 years as the much loved Westcountry TV mascot, is officially back and he’s hopping into action to help make the most of short and precious lives across the South West.

Supporters can celebrate their birthday while supporting CHSW by creating a birthday fundraiser. Anyone who raises £50 or more will receive a special Magic Birthday

Taunton, Somerset — Musical theatre fans can experience a night of West End magic this summer as Sing Eat Retreat presents The West Country West End Revue, a night of Musical Theatre.

Broadcaster Judi Spiers will introduce a cast of 50 voices and a live band at the Queen’s Hall Theatre in Taunton, on Friday 24 July 2026.

The performance will feature show-stopping numbers from London’s biggest musicals in the 500-seat theatre, following a week of coaching from leading West End Musical Directors, Directors and Vocal Coaches.

A determined adventurer from Yeovil has set off on one of the world’s most iconic trekking challenges this May, all in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Peter Mawhood, 65, set off on 5 May to begin his journey to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, a trek expected to take around 2 weeks.

Peter hopes to raise £1,500 for CHSW and is already close to reaching his target.

This latest expedition builds on an impressive list of previous achievements. At the age of 61, Peter successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, reaching a summit height of 5,895 metres in temperatures as low as -20°C. Two

Newquay Rowing Club is looking for teams to take part in its sponsored gig row in Newquay harbour on Sunday 14 June supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

This much loved annual event returns to the calendar this year, once again drawing strong support from teams across the local community.

The event offers groups of friends, colleagues, sports teams or family to give gig rowing a go in this friendly sponsored charity event. To take part teams are required to supply three novice rowers and the other three rowers and the coxswain in your gig will be supplied by Newquay Rowing Club.

For around 12 years, teams from Kier Infrastructure have volunteered their time and expertise to help maintain the hospice’s pumping station, a vital part of the site’s infrastructure that helps keep facilities running safely and reliably for families staying at the hospice.

Following a staff vote, Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS), based at Hinkley Point A, has proudly chosen Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its Charity of the Year. Setting an ambitious target of £15,500, the team set out to fund a much-needed Cuddle Bed for Little Bridge House, helping families stay close and comfortable during precious moments together.

Through a packed calendar of fundraising activities including a golf day, regular raffles, cake sales and fun team challenges such as the construction of a ‘human fruit machine’, the NRS team quickly reached their goal.
