Cornwall Glass Redruth has recently donated £1,008 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Cornwall Glass Redruth has recently donated £1,008 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The donation was raised through an open day held in December for existing customers and the general public. Mince pies and mulled wine were enjoyed as well as a Christmas raffle which visitors could enter, as well as customers and colleagues from across all branches of the business.

Hospice to benefit from RGB Building Supplies

RGB Building Supplies, which has stores in Holsworthy and Bude, have announced it has selected Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its chosen charity for 2017.

RGB had a phenomenal response to its ‘Christmas Present Appeal’ in aid of CHSW at the end of 2016, when more than 250 gifts were donated by RGB customers and staff. The builders merchants have now said it is looking forward to continuing this support for CHSW.

This year, RGB staff will be taking part in a number of CHSW fundraising activities and will also be holding regular events to boost the amount raised.

Donate old clothes and bag a bargain at shopping event at Princesshay in Exeter

Shoppers are being urged to donate their out-of-season fashions for a good cause at a south west shopping centre.

From 30 March, the Princesshay Centre in Exeter will be collecting clothing in support of the Children’s Hospice South West as part of the Spring Spree event.

The centre will then continue the clothing drop with CHSW throughout 2017.

Weston-super-Mare mother: ‘Charlton Farm gave me some memories to last a lifetime’

A children’s hospice is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and a Weston woman says she is ‘eternally grateful’ for the care she and her newborn son received.

Charlton Farm, in Wraxall, opened its doors in 2007 and provides a host of different services as part of Children’s Hospice South West, which provides care for life-limited children and their families.

But Charlton Farm specifically offers medical care 365 days a year as well as support for families.

At the moment it supports 204 life-limited children, and 152 bereaved families.

Volunteers from Weston-Super-Mare needed - can you help?

A North Somerset charity is calling for more volunteers from Weston – and its current members say it is both ‘challenging and rewarding’.

The Weston Friends Group formed back in 2003 to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which has a base in Wraxall.

The group in Weston has done a lot of work for the Charlton Farm hospice, which not only provides end-of-life care for sick children, but also supports their families during their stay.

Constantine School's phizz-whizzing fancy dress for Roald Dahl centenary

It was a gloriumptious day for the children of Constantine School on Friday who dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl characters to celebrate the author's 100th birthday.

The school was filled with Twits, witches, Oompa-Loompas and even a not-so-giant peach, as the children pulled out all the stops to create some whoopsy-whiffling costumes, and spent all day on a special squibbling task - otherwise known as writing.

New Children’s Hospice South West shop set to open in Bude

A new Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) retail shop is set to open in Bude next month.

CHSW is to open a new retail shop in Princes Street on Friday, February 3 at 10.30am, which will be officially opened by CHSW’s co-founder and chief executive, Eddie Farwell.

The new shop will have something for everyone with a range of goods on offer, including books, clothing and accessories, as well as children’s toys and games, plus homewares and bric a brac.

Swallowfield staff raise more than £4,500

Staff at Wellington-based beauty manufacturer Swallowfield have raised £1,100 for Children’s Hospice South West.

They organised a grand Christmas raffle with more than 140 prizes and a donation from the company helped to make up the total.

Shift manager Jo Luckhurst said: “The Children’s Hospice is a charity which is close to our hearts. Over the past few years instead of sending Christmas cards to each other, we bought one big card for people to write on and give a donation. This year we decided to make it bigger and better by holding a raffle, too.

Cornwall Truck Show donates £7,000 to children's hospice

The annual Cornwall Truck Show has donated £7000 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and a further £7,000 to their other charity partner, Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Trucks come from all over Cornwall and further afield to attend the show which is held at Stithians Showground over a weekend each summer. As well as trucks on show there are also trade stands and many people visit the show each year.
