Hospice to benefit from RGB Building Supplies

15 March 2017 chsw Fundraising

RGB Building Supplies, which has stores in Holsworthy and Bude, have announced it has selected Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its chosen charity for 2017.

RGB had a phenomenal response to its ‘Christmas Present Appeal’ in aid of CHSW at the end of 2016, when more than 250 gifts were donated by RGB customers and staff. The builders merchants have now said it is looking forward to continuing this support for CHSW.

This year, RGB staff will be taking part in a number of CHSW fundraising activities and will also be holding regular events to boost the amount raised.

To kick-start the campaign RGB’s health and safety manager Mark Randle is taking part in the ‘Concept 2, 2017 Military Challenge’, which is open to all serving and ex-serving military personnel from across the world.

The former navy serviceman is taking on the challenge of rowing as many kilometers as possible throughout February on a rowing machine and is currently standing at number 20 in the worldwide rankings.

To encourage people to support his challenge, Mark has pledged to shave his head when he reaches £1,000, shave off one eyebrow if he reaches £2,000 and shave the other eyebrow if he reaches £3,000.

Naomi Dymond, corporate partnerships fundraiser at CHSW said: “We are so thrilled to have been chosen as RGB’s new charity of the year and can’t thank the firm enough for choosing CHSW.

“We rely almost entirely on the support of businesses like RGB and without them we couldn’t continue to be there for hundreds of life-limited children and their families across the South West.

“We can’t wait to see what the teams come up with — if Mark’s challenge is anything to go by, it’s set to be a very fun and exciting 12 months of fundraising.”

Kevin Fenlon, CEO at RGB Building Supplies, said:

Following the success of our Christmas Present Appeal, we’re delighted to be continuing our support of Children’s Hospice South West; the charity provides amazing care to children and their families across the whole region. Mark has got us off to a fantastic start and we’d like to thank everyone who has donated so far.
