There are lots of ways to pay in your sponsorship.

Please bring with you your coin collection and gingerbread coin collection houses on the day to hand in at registration. Please make sure you write your names on these so that we know who the money has come from, and we can allocate it to your fundraising total.

We recommend you don't send in cash through the post.  Please remove your coins from your coin collection and then donate for them on our online donation page along with any other sponsorship you've collected.

You can send your sponsor forms and coin collection card along with a cheque to one of our three hospices:

  • CHSW, Little Harbour, Porthpean Road, Porthpean, St Austell, Cornwall, Pl26 6AZ

All money raised on an online giving page automatically is sent through to us - you don’t have to do a thing!

Setting up a Facebook Fundraiser for the Facebook Challenge is the best way to raise sponsorship for your challenge  - all money raised on your Fundraiser will be transferred directly to us.

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the tax on your donations. This means that every £10 donation you give under the Gift Aid scheme is worth £12.50 to CHSW - at no extra cost to you.

As places are limited for this event to a capacity of 120, we ask each rider to commit to raising the suggested minimum sponsorship of £1,250 for Ride for Precious Lives 2025. Your registration fee covers the cost of your hotel stay, food and cycling jersey. If you do not think you can commit to raising this sponsorship please call Kiley on 01726 871 800 to discuss prior to registering.

Once a family starts to visit our hospices, our care team are available to help them think about the choices they may wish to consider when their child nears the end of their life. An end of life care plan is a document that outlines you and your child’s wishes for their end of life care, including management of pain, other symptoms and provision of psychological, social, spiritual and support for the family into bereavement

The end of life phase begins when a judgement is made that no more treatment is possible, to ensure care helps children who are no longer receiving curative treatment to live as well as possible until they die. Including care during and around the time of death, and immediately afterwards. Enabling supportive and palliative care needs of both child and the family to be identified and met throughout the last phase of life.

Families may wish to come to the hospice for care towards the end of their child’s life. We would always view these stays as a priority. Families may also wish to stay at home or in a hospital and then come to the hospice after their child has died. Whatever the family decides our care team can offer support, advice and practical help whether at home or in the hospice.

Unfortunately, some of our emails can end up in your junk inbox- please check this first. Yes we can. Every time we sell something belonging to you, we can raise 25% more from the government through Gift Aid - at no cost to you.

Find out more about Gift Aid.

You may still pay tax on a private pension plan or a savings account, or pay Capital Gains Tax if you sell property or shares. If this is the case, please tick the Gift Aid declaration.

A tandem skydive is an easy and enjoyable way to experience the thrills of skydiving.  Once aboard the aircraft, you will be securely harnessed to your Instructor as you ride up to your chosen altitude.  The aircraft takes approximately 10 minutes to climb to 15,000ft, giving you time to take in the views.  Once at altitude, you will get the green light for GO!

During freefall, you will experience speeds of approximately 120mph for up to a minute, falling around 2 miles.  As the canopy opens, you will be aware of the sudden tranquillity as your speed dramatically decreases.  This allows you to talk with your Instructor, take in the expansive scenery during the 5 minute parachute ride, and land safely after helping your Instructor to steer the parachute around the sky before gliding back to the airfield.

Writing a will is not as expensive as you might think. Solicitors can provide estimates on request, but the cost will depend on how complex your affairs are.

CHSW offer a Free Will Writing service to our supporters. Please visit our Free Will Writing service page to find out more.

Absolutely! Whatever event you are taking part in we would love you to join Team CHSW. Phone your local hospice or email event@chsw.org.uk and we'll send you a fundraising pack and CHSW running top.

Thank you so much for raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, we really appreciate your support! Please send us a cheque made payable to CHSW to: Children’s Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 2PZ.

It would be great if you could also let us know how you raised the money (and be sure to include your name and address so that we can send you a thank you letter!).

By signing up to Ride for Precious Lives you will be communicated with via email once a month and invited to bi-monthly Zoom meetings to support your training, fundraising and answer questions about the weekend.

You will also receive support via phone from your Area Fundraiser and Kiley, Event lead of Ride for Precious Lives.

You will also be offered to join a Private Facebook Group for those who are only taking part your event – this group is great to get support from your fellow Ride for Precious Lives riders.

We offer short breaks away for the whole family, for respite and relaxation. Mums, Dads, brothers and sisters can all come and stay at our hospices.

We provide one-to-one specialist care for the sick child. This allows the family the chance to have a break away from the worries of caring, and to be together as a family. In this respect, what we provide is completely unlike any other care available.

Participants who register are not obliged to raise sponsorship, however this will not qualify you to receive a medal. Alternatively, you can make a donation of the suggested minimum £30 when you register online.

We would love you to and it may help you raise even more money! But make sure that it wouldn’t hinder the fitting of your harness and is big enough to go over a wetsuit – please get in touch before hand so we can make sure it’s suitable.  If you do come in fancy dress, please do bring a spare change of clothes, just in case your costume isn't suitable.

You can set up a team fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving following the steps on their website. We recommend that you set up an individual page which links to this team page so we can clearly identify any funds that have been raised on your behalf.

The British weather is notoriously unpredictable, so we will be keeping an eye on the forecast. If the weather is deemed unsafe, we will postpone the event and alternative date will be arranged and you will be notified by text and email. If you cannot make the alternative date, a refund will be offered, or you can offer your event fee as a donation.

If achievable, the format of the evening may change to allow it still to go ahead in some form.

Yes, have a look at our training guides provided for advice and information on getting ready for Incredible Hike. By training hard you will be sure you’re ready for the challenge ahead!

Moonlight Memory Walk Cornwall

If attending the event at Heligan, you'll be required to follow the guided 2k route that has been marshalled. You can choose to complete this route one or twice to complete 4k.

Moonlight Memory Walk Clevedon

The walk is a 5k circular route, that you will need to walk to get back to the event village. However, if you do find that you are struggling with the distance, then please do talk to one of our volunteer marshals on the route, and we can sort out a shorter way back for you.

Moonlight Memory Walk Devon

The walk is a 3k route around the Powderham Castle grounds.

Every participant in a Children’s Hospice South West Challenge Event, no matter what the event is, will receive:

  • Fundraising and training advice
  • Regular contact from the Challenge Events team
  • The opportunity to visit a Children’s Hospice South West hospice
  • Children’s Hospice South West vest or T-shirt.

For more information on the support available from Children’s Hospice South West, have a look at our fundraising page.

Yes we can. Every time we sell something belonging to you, we can raise 25% more from the government through Gift Aid - at no cost to you.

Find out more about Gift Aid.

Children's Hospice South West can only directly claim back at the basic rate but please complete and return the declaration.

As a higher rate taxpayer, if you declare your donations on your tax return, you can claim a rebate based on the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate when you fill in your self-assessment form.

Payroll Giving is taken straight from your gross (pre-tax) pay so there is no need for us to choose to claim the tax back through Gift Aid – saving us admin costs.

If you are a 40% or 45% taxpayer, Payroll Giving is the only way we can automatically receive all your tax on a donation.

Eden Project

We will be sending out your runner number, fundraising pack, sponsor form and coin collection card from mid October onwards. You are welcome to download any of these fundraising tools prior to this by visiting the 'how to fundraise' tab on the Santas on the Run Eden webpage.

Charlton Farm

We'll be sending your fundraising pack and runner number out in the post at the beginning of November. Your fundraising pack will also be available to download, and includes a sponsor form, coin collection card and gingerbread house collection box. You can download this by visiting the 'how to fundraise' tab on the Santas on the Run North Somerset webpage.

We prefer you not to wear headphones, this is for your safety and for other people using the route. If you choose to wear headphones, please do not wear them on any of the road sections of the races.

Injuries and illnesses happen - they're part of life. If you are unable to take part in your challenge, the most important thing for you to do is to let us know as soon as possible. Depending on when you pull out, we might be able to give your place to somebody else, so that Children’s Hospice South West does not lose out. We will also be able to advise you on who to alert to the fact that you will have to pull out - you may need to tell the challenge tour operator, and you may need to refer to the terms and conditions of your booking - especially for overseas adventures.

If you are unable to take part in your chosen challenge, and you have already raised sponsorship for your challenge, you will need to get in touch with everyone who has supported you to let them know that you are not actually doing the challenge they have sponsored you for. You should give them the right to request a refund on their donation. If you do not take part in your challenge, then we will not still ask you to pay in the minimum sponsorship requirement. Any registration fees you have paid are, however, non-refundable.

You can wear whatever you like! Regular running shorts and vest, a tutu or even fancy dress outfits.

You'll be able to purchase a white Children’s Hospice South West t-shirt for £5 when you register on the day along with fancy dress and sunglasses available to buy from the merchandise stand.

The coloured foam may stain your clothing, so bring something you don’t mind getting stained so we do recommend to wear old clothes and trainers!

You'll also want to wear something that will help protect your eyes while running through the bubble stations and paint stations. Sunglasses will be available to purchase for just £2.

If you’re bringing kids with you, consider bringing some little swim goggles for them since the bubbles will probably be taller than they are!

The majority of UK visas allow people to volunteer, although there may be restrictions to the number of hours you can volunteer. If you are unsure if your visa allows you to volunteer we recommend you contact the UK Border Agency. We may request verification of this.  Please note that Tourist/ Visitor visas and Student Visitor visas (usually students visiting for six months or less) do not allow people to volunteer.

If a role requires a specific commitment, we’ll always let you know first. Otherwise you can give us as much or as little time as you like.

A morning or an afternoon, whatever you can give we really appreicate. But if you only have an hour to spare, we'll be just as grateful.

By default, you will receive notifications for all replies to your comments. You can also subscribe to entire discussions on which you comment within the settings of your Disqus account. Registered users can turn off new thread subscriptions within the settings of their Disqus account.

No problem.  Please contact your event fundraiser.

No wheeled devices including pushchairs and baby joggers are accepted.

Winners must verify their details and claim their prize within 6 months of the draw date, after which CHSW will treat the prize as a donation.

Rainbow Run is not a race and therefore everyone gets a medal as they cross the finish line!

Skydive Buzz will advise you of your arrival time when you book your jump.

Of course you can. Your Will is your document and you can include, exclude, add or remove whoever you wish. If you change your mind or if your personal circumstances change, you are free to change your Will as many times as you wish. You don’t need to let us know either; it is entirely your choice.

You'll need to complete an application form from the event page. Some events are by application process, we aim to let you know the result of your application as soon as possible. Some events are confirmed instantly as long as you are committed to raising the minimum fundraising pledge and you pay a registration fee.

The Raise a smile Lottery uses lottery software licenced and regulated by the gambling commission. Players receive a unique randomly selected draw number(s) created by this software.

All lottery numbers paid in advance are entered into a computerised randomly selected weekly draw which normally takes place every Friday. Once a number is drawn it is removed from the draw therefore it is not possible for one number to win more than one prize. Prizes are allocated in the order of prize value.

Unfortunately, some emails can end up in your junk box - please check this first.

If you still have not received either your confirmation email or welcome information email, please contact our event fundraisers:

If you sign up over the weekend, please note you won't receive your welcome information email until the Monday morning.

Yes, there are three types:

A Residuary Legacy is a percentage or share of the balance of your estate once all other payments and gifts have been made. A lot people prefer to give a residuary gift because it keeps in line with inflation and does not lose value over time.

A Pecuniary Legacy is a fixed amount of money.

A Specific Legacy can include specific items like personal possessions, land or shares.

No. We gratefully receive any sponsorship our own place runners collect. No matter how small you think this amount may be, it will go a long way to help support our work.

South West Splash is our brand-new fundraising event where you come up with a water-based challenge or fun activity.

You could swim every day for a month, or your child could swim a length of the pool. You could learn to surf until you drop, or kayak a marathon. Your child could learn to dive or simply handstand in the pool. Whatever the challenge, it doesn’t matter! There is nothing too small or too big, so get those swimming costumes, shorts or wet suits on and make a huge difference.

Families are advised on how and when they are able to book hospice stays. In addition to planned respite nights, emergency stays can be arranged. These are organised on an “as needed” basis.

The way families use their respite stays is determined to suit their personal circumstances, we aim to be as flexible as possible in responding to needs. Some families prefer long visits while others might choose a weekend every few months. We hope each family would feel free to discuss their individual needs with us.

Absolutely!  Please email Kate and we can send these out to you. Just let us know how many you require.

Of course, we would love to welcome your support team for the day. There will be a reduced charge of £4 for non participants for access to the falls. Canonteign Falls is described as a hidden gem and one of the most idyllic places to see and explore with children. Perfect for outdoor adventure, the children's play area and children’s assault course will keep the little ones happy, and the lakeside restaurant, snack bar and gift shop are worth a visit after your thrilling descent!  Remind them to take waterproofs so they do not get wet as they watch!

You can set up a team fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving following the steps on their website. We recommend that you set up an individual page which links to this team page so we can clearly identify any funds that have been raised on your behalf.

We ask every Incredible Hiker to commit to raising the suggested minimum sponsorship of £1,000. Your registration fee covers the cost of your event support, hotel stays, food and Team Hike apparel.

Moonlight Memory Walk Cornwall

Our in person event at The Lost Gardens of Heligan will take place in the dark, however we'll marshal the route for your safety. We recommend you bring a torch and mobile phone. We will be lighting the paths with candles bags in special areas around the route and some areas will be lit with Heligan’s beautiful lighting.

Moonlight Memory Walk Clevedon

The event will take place in the dark, however we'll marshal the route for your safety and there are street lights on the route. We recommend you bring a torch and mobile phone.

Moonlight Memory Walk Devon

The walk will take place in the dark, however we'll marshal the route for your safety. We recommend you bring a torch and mobile phone but much of the route will be lit with Powderham Castle's beautiful lighting.

We have a team of fundraisers here at CHSW  who are on hand to offer you any ideas and advice you may need. Our first tip would be to set up an online fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving, and then to investigate whether your company or any local businesses will be able to support you.

CHSW and its recycling partners can help turn mobile phones, gadgets and computers into money - to go towards supporting our work.  Find out more on how and what to recycle with CHSW.

Children's Hospice South West can only directly claim back at the basic rate but please complete and return the declaration.

As a higher rate taxpayer, if you declare your donations on your tax return, you can claim a rebate based on the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate when you fill in your self-assessment form.

Yes. If you receive an occupational pension and your pension provider deducts tax through the PAYE system, you are still eligible for the scheme. Simply ask your occupational pension provider to make a donation from your pension before tax has been deducted.

Of course!

Please call the following numbers to get you up and running:

Yes – Please email Kate if you would like to help with this

Times will be confirmed leading up to event day.

Our overseas adventures are all run by tour operators on our behalf, as the tour operators have the experience, insurance and ATOL protection necessary to run these kinds of challenges. Therefore, registration fees should be sent directly to the appropriate tour operator when you complete your booking form.

Please note also, that the terms and conditions of your booking are with the tour operator rather than with Children’s Hospice South West - we will only stipulate fundraising terms and conditions, and do not have any control over insurance, travel arrangements or anything else to do with the trip itself. If you would like more information about this, then just get in touch.

We'd suggest a change of clothes and shoes as well as a towel so you can dry down after the event but it does depend how much time you spend in the foam.

Please note there is no bag drop facility at the event so please ensure you can store this in your car, or bring along a cheer squad who can look after them for you.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on-site at RAF St Mawgan and you will be asked to return home if you do bring a dog with you.

Normally all volunteers must be over 18 with the exception of retail volunteers who must be 14 years or over.
