Eight year old Sophie Cocking from Plympton has had a post-lockdown chop like no other after growing her hair for over two years in order to benefit two different charities.

At just five years old Sophie told her parents she would like to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust to enable children who need it to be able to ‘feel like a princess’. Her parents explained it would involve growing it for a long time and then having it cut very short which Sophie was completely on board with, and so the growing began.

Danish Crown, a meat factory in Bugle St Austell, has made a generous donation of meat and hampers to Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean run by Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). The company have supported the charity for many years through various fundraising activities and have recently signed up to the CHSW Business Club.

The donation was delivered straight to the kitchen door at Little Harbour by Mark Hall and Alesha Banfield from Danish Crown.

Two young sisters from Uffculme have been helping to look after the environment at the same time as raising money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Lizzie Rock-Evans, age seven, and her sister Hannah, age five, did a sponsored litter pick for CHSW after learning more about the charity while donating a bag of items at the Tiverton charity shop.

An eight-year-old boy from Barnstaple has completed a marathon-sized fundraising challenge for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Leo Withers ran the equivalent of 26.2 miles in 10 days after reading about the charity and how it helps local families in the North Devon Gazette.

The Fremington Primary School pupil started on May 1 and covered the distance with daily after-school runs near his home in Sticklepath, and in his garage on his dad Alex’s treadmill.

Five year old Amelie Cox from Ivybridge has read 106 books as part of her own charity readathon to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

After enjoying completing a sponsored readathon so much at her school; Stowford Primary in Ivybridge, Amelie decided she would set herself the challenge of reading even more books at home in a second charity readathon.

As part of World Book Day back in March, the children and families of Beansprouts Childcare in Weston-super-Mare held a sponsored ‘listen’ to raise money for books for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

All the children, aged 1-4, enjoyed sharing books with their families over the period of one week.

Jason’s grandad John died in February 2021, John was a very generous man and supported various charities through giving regular donations. When it came to his funeral John’s wife chose Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) to receive any donations that were given however, due to the pandemic, numbers at John’s funeral were restricted.
