Escot Park near Ottery St Mary and RAF St Mawgan near Newquay were given colourful makeovers recently as families from across the region took part in Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Rainbow Runs.
The 27th Plymouth Beavers group has raised £1000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following a sponsored silence.
18 boys and girls from the group, based at Shaugh Prior on the edge of Dartmoor, took part in the 20 minute sponsored silence supported by friends and family digging deep to offer generous sponsorship.
Jenny Dibben, Leader for the 27th Plymouth Beavers said; “The Beaver Scouts were amazing,
not only were they silent for 20 minutes but they raised far more money than we anticipated.
‘The Tavistock Pop-Up School Shop’ has recently donated £3779 to both Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and The Primrose Foundation, following a bumper start to the shop.

The event, which will be held in Chilthorne Domer, Yeovil, requires participants to run 4.167 miles, every hour for as long as possible. The winner will be the last one standing and Damien is hoping he will be able to reach the 24-hour mark.
Four year old Sienna Tindale from Threemilestone has raised £1,245 ahead of Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Rainbow Run returning to RAF St Mawgan on Saturday 18 June.
With each participant only required to raise £20 in sponsorship Sienna has well and truly smashed her target.
Sienna will be taking part in the Rainbow Run with her Dad and will be alongside more than 800 others who will be running and walking the 5km and getting covered in powder paint of all colours of the rainbow.
£420 was raised for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) at the Morley Rangers charity football match on Saturday 14 May.
The match was played and money raised in memory of Oliver Brown who was known to lots playing in the match, many being coaches and managers of the various Morley Rangers teams.

The popular family-friendly 5k takes place on Father’s Day (June 19) and for one local dad supported by the charity’s Little Bridge House children’s hospice in North Devon, every step around the stunning 5k course will be filled with emotion.
Newquay Rowing Club is looking for teams to take part in its sponsored gig row in Newquay harbour on Sunday 10 July supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). This is an annual event which has been put on hold since the pandemic but everyone involved is excited for its return this summer.
