Olympic gold-medallist Amy Williams MBE came to the aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) on Friday (8th Feb) when she stepped up to host a Q&A with a panel of sporting guests at its first Sports Lunch in the city. Rugby legend David Flatman was due to host the event at the Apex Hotel but had to fly to Rome earlier than anticipated to cover the 6 Nations.

Staff at Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple are asking supporters to do something incredible in 2019 and help raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

From skydives and abseils to overseas challenges in some of the world’s most breath-taking locations and endurance events a little closer to home, the charity has got plenty planned to get the blood pumping this year.

Our 12-month fundraising campaign has raised over £9,000 for charity!

Our staff chose Children’s Hospice South West as its 2018 charity of the year as we wanted to make supporting a local charity one of our priorities during our 30th anniversary celebrations.

With a £5,000 target in place, we held a series of events over the year the team and raised just shy of £9,500! Absolutely outstanding!

Pub’s heart – and tea – warming support for children’s hospice

Knitted tea cosies have been keeping the tea warm and raising money for Children’s Hospice South West at the Tors Inn in Belstone.

Mango, the pub’s springer spaniel, was the inspiration behind a baker’s dozen of tea cosies made by local Margo Cockell – 12 for the pub and one for the charity’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple in North Devon.

Enjoy a taste of spring at stunning Snowdrop Sunday

People are being invited to enjoy an early taste of spring in a colourful corner of Dartmoor this month.

Thousands of snowdrops – as well as early crocus, dwarf daffodils and hellebores – are expected to be in bloom for the 12th annual Andrews Corner ‘Snowdrop Sunday’, near Belstone, on February 17.

The woodland garden, situated high on the northern slopes of Dartmoor, offers spectacular views across the Skaigh Valley. It was created over the last 50 years by the Hill family and is now home to around 100 different snowdrop cultivars, both common and the more unusual.
