Fun day to support family’s ‘safe haven’

12 August 2021 chsw Fundraising

Sisters Cheryl and Sam are holding a family fun day at Yeovil Rugby Club on Saturday 28 August, from 10am-3pm to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and Sam is passionate about fundraising for the local hospice, Charlton Farm, as it provides respite care to her family.

Sam’s son, Lewis, has complex care needs and along with his mum, dad, and brothers, has been supported by Charlton Farm since he was 6 months old; he’s now 12. The hospice is a place Sam and her partner Frazer can take a much-needed break from the ongoing strains of caring for their children at home, recharge their batteries, and enjoy quality time as a family.

Sam said: “Charlton Farm is my safe haven, it’s the place we can all be together as a family. We’d urge anyone and everyone to come and enjoy the day with us and help us raise as much money as possible for a charity which means so much to me and my family.”

The family-friendly event is guaranteed to be a great day out with food, music, archery and axe throwing and absolutely loads for the children, including: a bouncy castle, a children’s entertainer, performances, glitter tattoos, painting, and special appearances from Spiderman and the Southern Troopers. The mayor of Yeovil, Evie Potts-Jones, will be making an appearance too.

Cheryl and Sam have been overwhelmed with offers of help from the community.

Sam said: “The response has been incredible! So much so, entertainers and stallholders who couldn’t be at this year’s event have booked in for next year, so it looks like there will be another fun day in 2022!”

Entry for adults on the day is £1 and children, 50p.
