Students get creative for charitable causes

16 December 2020 chsw Fundraising

Throughout December, students at Bridgwater and Taunton College are getting creative and fundraising for a variety of charities.

‘RAGVENT’ as it is known, will be supporting Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), In Charley’s Memory, and Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

So far, the students have created and sold Christmas cards and crocheted animals, taken part in head shaves, an ice-bucket challenge, live-streamed a music set, experienced leg waxing and been dressing up! To date they have raised over £900.

We’ve seen some really creative fundraising ideas from the team of students and they have hit the ground running with their fundraising. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next

CHSW’s local hospice is Charlton Farm in North Somerset which provides care to children with life-limiting illness and their families. Due to the pandemic, Charlton Farm has adapted its day-to-day care provision to provide support to vulnerable children in the community. In addition to care being provided to families already known to the charity, the care team is working with the NHS and other local care providers to offer support to other vulnerable children and young people, helping keep hospital admissions down and freeing up essential resources needed to respond to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Julie Draper, Community Fundraiser at CHSW, said: “We’ve seen some really creative fundraising ideas from the team of students and they have hit the ground running with their fundraising. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do next!”
