Launceston couple hosting garden Cream Tea in aid of local children’s hospice

30 May 2024 CHSW

A couple from Launceston are hosting a ‘Cream Tea in the garden’ to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Jayne and Chris are opening up their garden on Saturday 15 June for people to come and enjoy a cream tea in support of the charity.

Back in 2020, the Cornish couple had planned to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with family and friends by hosting a barn dance in aid of CHSW.

Like so many events at the time, this had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. Their desire to do something for the charity, however, has not gone away.

They’re now busy planning this event to raise the much needed funds for the children and young people with life limiting conditions that use Little Harbour children’s hospice in Porthpean, St Austell.

Alice Merrett, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said: “We are so grateful that Jayne and Chris have chosen to support us. Little Harbour costs around £3 million a year to run, so whether your donation is big or small, it makes all the difference.

It really does mean the world to us, and what better way to fundraise than having some delicious scones in a lovely garden!

The event will be held at 7c Roydon Road, Launceston, PL15 8DN, with an alternative wet weather venue of Launceston Community Church PL15 8EX where visitors will receive an equally warm welcome.
