CHSW bags £15,000 donation from The Range
Local children’s charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), has recently received a donation of £15,000 from The Range.
The home, leisure and garden retailer with headquarters in Plymouth donated the money from its carrier bag levy scheme. This is not the first time The Range has made a donation from funds collected from the scheme which charges customers for a carrier bag rather than giving them for free with each purchase.
CHSW is extremely grateful for the donation and Area Fundraiser Sarah Nuttall-Worsley explains its significance; “We are so grateful to receive this donation, especially in this year which is the charity’s 30th anniversary year. We would like to share our thanks with everyone at The Range.”
The charity runs three children’s hospices across the south west; Little Bridge House in Barnstaple, Charlton Farm near Bristol and Little Harbour in St Austell. All the hospices have remained open throughout the pandemic, supporting more than 500 local children and their families.
Sarah continues; “Our hospices don’t just provide end of life care for children, we are there for families from the moment of diagnosis and often journey with them for a number of years.
The last 18 months have been incredibly difficult for the children we support, so for us to be able to use donations such as this to help adapt our services and be there in ways that families need us most is our priority.
A spokesperson from The Range said “We are happy to support Children’s Hospice South West and hope that the donation makes a small difference in aiding with all the work they do.”
It costs over £11 million a year to run the three hospices which are a lifeline to families, providing resilience stays, home visits, emergency stays, end of life care and bereavement support.
