Ballroom dancers in Exeter raise thousands for children’s hospice
Ballroom dancers from across East Devon have helped raise thousands of pounds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Dance partners Jean Pollington, from Ottery St Mary, and Mike Green, from Exeter, raised £5,025.93 by holding an annual charity dance at Clyst St Mary Village Hall.
They also raised the money by attending car boot sales throughout the year.
Good friends Jean and Mike, regularly dance at various ballroom events, including the Wonford Community Hall dances every Friday afternoon.
Jean said: “I’ve been organising the dances for around 12 years now and they always prove very popular.
“We are also so grateful to everyone who has donated unwanted goods for our various car boot sales, please continue to do so, as we would like to do better for the charity this year.”
CHSW area fundraiser Mary Gray said: “Jean and her close family and friends have given us wonderful support over the years and the money they have raises has made a real difference to children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.“
Jean’s dances are a great way to bring the community together, while raising money and awareness for her local children’s hospice.
“We are already looking forward to Jean’s next dance in November,” added Mary.
