CHSW was delighted to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the Barnstaple Round Table fireworks evening. This popular annual event was very well attended by the local community on Sunday 5 November with just under 6000 spectators! Fundraisers and volunteers from the charity attended the event and raised money through bucket collections and received a fundraising cheque from Barnstaple Round Table for £3000!
Gubs Hayer, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, tells us more:
The Fireworks evening was incredible! We can’t thank Barnstaple Round Table enough for supporting CHSW with the Fireworks event in November 2023. There were thousands of people there enjoying the Fireworks and it’s down to the Barnstaple Round Table’s hard work and planning that the event was such a huge success!
The next fundraiser that the Barnstaple Round Table organised for the community was the annual Santa Sleigh tour! This took place from Saturday 2 December through to Friday 22 December. Santa’s Sleigh visited locations throughout Barnstaple spreading Christmas cheer throughout the town. This annual Santa Sleigh tour has become a tradition for many families in the area who look forward to seeing the sleigh coming to their street.
On Friday 19 January the presentation evening for the Barnstaple and District Round Table Santa Sleigh took place at the Barnstaple Rugby Club. Children’s Hospice South West, along with fifteen groups and other charities, were presented with their cheques from Paul Fryer and Ash Thorne the two organisers and co-ordinators for the clubs Santa Sleigh activity for 2023, with the help from the club’s Chairman, Jack Shortridge.
Paul and Ash highlighted:
“We are immensely proud of what the group and the charity collectors have achieved and would like to thank everyone who has taken part in the Santa Sleigh and a special thanks goes to our sponsors, Tom Sandland and his team at Barnstaple Nissan for the loan of the
e-power Nissan Qashqai , Mark Brend and the team at Taw Ford and Simon Smallridge at Smallridge Bros for the sponsorship for the fuel for the vehicle. Special thanks goes to Bruce Isaac and Simon Randall from Storage Space in Barnstaple in letting us store the sleigh over the Christmas season and finally The Voice who helped to promote the Santa routes across Barnstaple and the surrounding areas”.
“Our biggest thanks go to the residents and people of Barnstaple and the surrounding areas in helping to make this possible through their generosity and support and we have already started planning for Christmas 2024 in making the sleigh even better for the people of Barnstaple.”
Gubs Hayer, Area fundraiser for CHSW continued:
“We were delighted to support the Round Table Santa's Sleigh event. A team of staff and volunteers from CHSW soon forgot the cold weather when they saw the children's reactions to seeing Santa. The wide-eyed waves and smiles will stick in our memories. Due to the amazing generosity of the public, we received a fantastic sum which will support the families who use Little Bridge House. Thanks to all who donated and the incredible work and enthusiasm of the team at Roundtable.”
Thank you so much Barnstaple Round Table for supporting CHSW with your fundraising initiatives. Without the wonderful support of amazing fundraisers like you, the children, young people and families would not benefit from the vital care and support they find comfort in.
