Meet Sam, our Head of Care at Little Harbour, Cornwall
Sam has been a qualified children’s nurse for over 10 years and has worked at Little Harbour for 8 years.

Hello, I’m Sam, Head of Care at Little Harbour. Prior to working at Children's Hospice South West, I have worked in hospitals in both Cornwall and Bristol.

As a nurse in hospitals, it can sometimes feel like you don’t have enough time for your patients, and that’s why I made the move into hospice care; I wanted a job where I could spend time with the children and young people I care for and give them 100%.

At Little Harbour, no two days are the same, it is a really relaxed and fun environment to work in. As a nurse here, I have always felt like I can dedicate my time to the children, young people and families to provide them with the best possible care.

I have built up great relationships with the families and hold such fond memories of things we have done over the years from dreamnights at the zoo, trips out making memories, to in-house activities such as going in the jacuzzi, sensory stories, dressing up for themed days and much more.

When caring for children at Little Harbour, it’s not just about their physical needs, we provide holistic care to meet their emotional and social needs too.

It is the most rewarding job knowing that you are helping families and most importantly, creating amazing memories.

As Head of Care, I now oversee the running of the hospice. I work closely with the team to ensure we are able to offer the highest standard of care to families; our families are always at the forefront of our minds.

“It is a job like no other and I can honestly say working at Little Harbour is the most rewarding job I have ever had.”
