Lighting up Spencer Drive again this Christmas
John Burge from Worle has done it again and completely transformed his house in Spencer Drive into a Victorian toyshop to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
The shop is called TJ Toys and it’s been named after John and his 12-year old son Tobie.
Each year John and Tobie have make the display bigger and even more impressive. This year, if you peer into the shop windows you can watch the moving elves and other mechanical objects.
Last year John raised a staggering £3275.54 for CHSW and would love to raise as much money as possible this year for the charity that is so close to his heart.
John said: “My mum and dad always made my Christmases magical and special. Sadly last year I lost my mum due to cancer so I am dedicating the lights to her; I just wish she could see them as I know she would love the display.”
Local businesses have kindly donated materials and gifts to help make the amazing display, including: B&Q, Travis Perkins, Winterstoke Decorators, Bidwells Self Drive Clevedon, and Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm.
“I’d like to thank all my wonderful neighbours and friends for putting up with the disruption during the build and all the cups of coffee and bacon rolls they brought to my door!” added John.
The toyshop can be found at 5 Spencer Drive, BS22 7QH and John requests that any visitors to his house park on the main road as Spencer Drive is a cul-de-sac and would be easily congested.
Donations can be made in cash at the display or online at www.chsw.org.uk/donate referencing Spencer Drive Lights.
