New rose created to celebrate 30th anniversary of Children’s Hospice South West
A new variety of rose has been created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Children’s Hospice South West.
The ‘Precious Lives’ rose was specially grown by rose expert David White, Managing Director of Bedfordshire-based World of Roses.
David also created the ‘Jill Farwell’ rose in memory of the charity’s co-founder following her death in 2004.
CHSW area fundraiser Heidi Roberts said the new magenta-coloured rose was named by the charity in recognition of the care it provides to help families make the most of short and precious lives at its three hospices, Little Bridge House near Barnstaple, Charlton Farm near Bristol, and Little Harbour in St Austell.
“This very special Precious Lives rose is a wonderful variety and the flower is a beautiful combination of purple, pink and silver,” added Heidi.
“It is a lovely way to help celebrate CHSW’s 30th anniversary, while also helping children and families in the South West make the most of short and precious lives.
It will make the perfect addition to any garden.
David, who has continued the family-run business originally started in the 1960s in his parents’ back garden, said the rose plants are supplied freshly potted and £2.50 from each sale would go to CHSW.
“As a specialist supplier and grower of premium quality British roses, we are proud to have been able to team up with CHSW to help the charity celebrate its 30th anniversary and raise some much-needed funds,” he said.
