Family aims to raise £10k for their ‘incredible’ children’s hospice
A family from Taunton hopes to raise £10,000 for the children's hospice in North Somerset which is currently caring for them.

Matt Stevens and his wife Lauren became proud parents of a baby boy called Nolan in August this year.
Nolan was born at Musgrove Hospital but due to complications at birth was rushed to Southmead Neonatal ITU in Bristol.
Matt said: “After defying the odds and doctors’ expectations, we were told Nolan had a life limiting condition and that’s when we were introduced to Children’s Hospice South West.”
CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice is located just outside of Bristol in beautiful surroundings in the North Somerset countryside. It aims to help and support families who face the emotional and physical strain of caring for children who, sadly, are not expected to live into adulthood. This does not make Charlton Farm a sad place, it is a place of love, happiness and friendship.Charlton Farm is currently offering Matt and Lauren respite stays, allowing them to reenergize and rest as Nolan requires round the clock medical care.
“The hospice not only gives Nolan care and comfort, they also give us the opportunity to be a family and make memories in the limited time we have together,” Matt said.
“At Charlton Farm we are away from the monitors and the clinical environment of the hospital. They have helped us take Nolan to the beach and the zoo, and we’ve been able to enjoy pubs and walks and meals out together.”
CHSW is dedicated to putting children and families at the centre of all it does – whether that’s at one of its 3 hospices across the south west, in families’ own homes or virtually. Each hospice provides care for the whole family, not just the child with a life-limiting condition.

Both Matt and Lauren have began fundraising for CHSW and have already raised more than £4,300, but they hope to reach £10,000.
“We are raising funds by taking part in numerous events including next year’s Brighton Marathon, 10k runs, coffee mornings, a skydive, and we have set up an online raffle,” said Matt.
“We want to raise money for this incredible charity and help to make sure families in the future have the same quality of care during the worst days of their lives.”
