Zumba Fundraiser Raises £560
A Zumba fundraising party held at Lanivet Community Centre on Friday 17 September has raised over £500 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Attendees of Zumba with Jeanie classes were inspired by CHSW’s 90’s themed celebrations for its 30th anniversary and organised their own zumba party to help raise funds for the local children’s charity. Along with the Zumba they also organised a cake sale to bring in extra donations.
Jeanie Lloyd lives in St. Merryn and has been teaching Zumba since November 2011. “I absolutely love teaching Zumba classes. The reason is simple: Every class feels like a party!”
Jeanie also teaches classes in Bodmin, Wadebridge, Fraddon, St Columb Major, Little Petherick, Lostwithiel and St Ervan.
Jeanie said “I can’t imagine how painful it is for family members and children to have to go through the pain of a terminal illness and the cost both emotionally and financially must be to all the family. I hope that our donation will help in some way.”
Bernadette Chambers, Area Fundraiser for CHSW said; “We are so grateful to Jeanie and everyone who got involved with the Zumba event and cake sale.
It is fantastic to see that our 30th anniversary celebrations are inspiring fundraising events like this in local communities; it is the generous support of the community that will ensure we will be here for the next 30 years.
CHSW runs three children’s hospices in the south west including Little Harbour in St Austell. Little Harbour offers care and support to children with life limiting illnesses and is currently supporting over 145 local children and families.
Little Harbour costs over £3 million a year to run and relies almost entirely on voluntary donations. If you would like to help raise funds visit click here or call Little Harbour on 01726 871 800.
