Mum with terminal cancer helps poorly children
A selfless mum battling terminal cancer has put her own illness aside to help poorly children for a day.
Kathleen Hague, of Helston, was recently diagnosed with terminal small-cell lung cancer.
In the advanced stage, this cancer cannot be cured, but treatments are available to improve the quality of life and treat any symptoms.
The 61-year-old, who is a much-loved mother of three and grandmother to four, decided that instead of waiting for her hair to fall out because of chemotherapy treatments, that she was going to take control and have her daughter shave it off instead.
In less than two weeks, she has raised over £1,000, smashing her original £250 target and the money will be donated to the Children’s Hospice South West to help poorly children.
Her daughter, Sam Trevains, says her whole family is immensely proud of her.
She said
I know everyone must say it about their mums but she really is just incredible. We are so proud of her. She's just really pleased that she got to do this for the children.
“She is such a kind, caring, brave lady who, even in her darkest hour is thinking of others
We are all so exceptionally proud to call her our mum and nanny. She is a one-off and we are honoured to have been gifted with such an inspiration.
"She has been a rock for so many people and always thinks of others and our only wish is for her to fight the cancer for as long as she is able and let us (her army) fight on the days she cannot.”
