Castle Vets Thanked for Year of Fundraising
One of the largest, independent vet practices in the south west, Castle Veterinary Group in Launceston, has had a busy year of fundraising for its chosen charity of the year; Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
The year-long partnership has now come to end and was celebrated by a cheque presentation of their generous donation of £3877.64 presented to Zoe Partridge, Community Fundraiser for CHSW.
Throughout the year staff at Castle Veterinary Group arranged many fundraising activities. They donated the proceeds of their waiting room book sale, organised an 18 mile sponsored walk on the Camel Trail with over 30 members of staff, held a Christmas jumper day and a raffle for a gin advent calendar.
The group decided to support CHSW as their charity of the year because of the work that they do supporting local children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Mark Tucker, Director at Castle Veterinary Group said;
As a veterinary practice we do lots of practical work supporting animal charities including RSPCA, Cats Protection and the PDSA. We therefore thought it would be good if we could support an organisation that does such wonderful and much needed work in our area supporting children and their families.
Zoe Partridge, Community Fundraiser for CHSW was delighted to collect the donation from Castle Veterinary Group. Zoe said “It has been absolutely fantastic to see how the team at Castle Veterinary Group has really got behind their fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West. They have demonstrated the variety of things you can do to help raise vital funds and their donation really will make a difference to the care we can offer local children and families.”

CHSW runs three children’s hospices in the south west including Little Harbour in St Austell which is currently supporting 125 local families with short breaks, palliative care as well as end of life care and bereavement support.
