First Sports Lunch in Bath is a huge success!
Olympic gold-medallist Amy Williams MBE came to the aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) on Friday (8th Feb) when she stepped up to host a Q&A with a panel of sporting guests at its first Sports Lunch in the city. Rugby legend David Flatman was due to host the event at the Apex Hotel but had to fly to Rome earlier than anticipated to cover the 6 Nations.
Joining Amy were Team Bath Netballers, Beryl Friday & Rachel Shaw; professional surfer, Laura Crane; Jerry Gill, First Team Manager for Bath City Football Club; and Alan Smith, former Leicester, Arsenal & England Footballer and now Sky Sports presenter.
As well as an inspiring and interactive Q&A, the event included a drinks reception, two-course lunch, raffle and auction with some exclusive prizes, including a round of golf with professional Chris Wood and a stay in a luxury Spanish villa and an evening with David Flatman. The day raised over £5,000 for CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice, located in North Somerset.
Charlton Farm currently supports 220 families of which 60 are from Bath and North East Somerset.
The hospice provides first-class care of children and young people with life-limiting conditions in a home from home environment. It provides much-needed short breaks for the whole family: mums and dads, and well brothers and sisters. It’s a place where everyone can forget their worries for a while, be a family again and find expert help and support with facing an uncertain future.
CHSW would like to thank Ben White for his generous sponsorship of the event.
