Plymouth Businesses Join CHSW for Bubbles
Ocean Studios at Royal William Yard in Plymouth was the venue for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) networking event on Thursday 10th May.
The event was set up to give local business people the opportunity to network with each other while also finding out about the work the local children’s charity does in supporting children with life limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Speakers on the evening included members of the Fundraising Team from CHSW’s Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell, along with Claire Kilbey – Head of Care at Little Harbour, Jason Willingham – a Plymouth dad whose family use Little Harbour and Stephen Ramsden - Managing Partner of GA Solicitors who are sponsoring this year’s Bubble Rush.
Highlighted on the evening by those speaking was the home from home environment that Little Harbour provides and the range of support that is offered to families from diagnosis right through to bereavement and beyond. The hospice is currently supporting 115 families, over 30 of which are from the Plymouth area.
Lorna Damella, local Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for CHSW said “I would like to thank everyone who came along to our event at Ocean Studios to hear more about what we do. It is important to us that the Plymouth community are aware of the care we provide to families from the city and surrounding area. We could not be there for these families without the support of local people and businesses which is why events like this really help us to spread the word. Thanks also to all the local companies who supported the event with raffle and auction prizes.”
The evening was themed around CHSW’s upcoming Bubble Rush event which returns to Newnham Park on Sunday 23rd September. Bubble Rush is a 5k sponsored fun run for all ages to take part in. The event involves running through different coloured bubble stations where you get covered in coloured foam. Last year the event raised £40,000 in sponsorship from the 1200 people that took part.
