3 Peaks Complete
A team of 21, including 14 employees from Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske (RCHT) X-Ray Department and 7 friends and family, embarked on the Three Peaks Challenge last year raising funds for Fistral Children’s Ward at RCHT and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
A total of £6034.32 was raised which will be split evenly between the two causes.
The challenge was to complete the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours however after a 14 hour journey to Scotland from Cornwall along with a few injuries and setbacks the 24 hour target became less of a reality.
The team climbed Ben Nevis a distance of 1345 metres (10.5 miles) followed by Scafell Pike a distance of 978 metres (6 miles) and finished with Snowdon which is 1085 metres (7 miles).
Simon Davis, part of the X-Ray team said “It was personally the toughest thing I have ever done, but incredibly rewarding when we reached the last summit and realised we had done it! It was a great team effort and we were constantly aware of the charities we were doing it for which certainly kept us going when things got tough!”
A team from the X Ray Department at RCHT took on the Three Peaks Challenge ten years ago which was the inspiration for organiser Marcus Chaplin.

To complete the Three Peaks Challenge is a fantastic achievement and we are so grateful to the X-Ray Department Team for all their hard work in training and fundraising for this challenge. This donation really will make a difference to the support we can offer the children and families that come to Little Harbour for short breaks and respite.
Little Harbour is one of CHSW’s three children’s hospices in the region and is currently supporting over 100 children with life limiting or life threatening illnesses along with their families. To find out more about CHSW simply click here
