Hundreds of Santas on Bikes set to visit hospice
It’s become a much-loved festive tradition; hundreds of bikers dressed in Santa suits, their motorbikes adorned with festive paraphernalia, paying a visit to Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House hospice near Barnstaple. This year the ride is taking place on Saturday 2 December, with bikers coming from all over the county.
It’s quite a spectacle watching the procession of motorbikes leaving Seven Brethren Bank, making its way through Barnstaple then onto Fremington for 1.00pm, and organiser, Carl Trick said:
‘Being born and bred in Barnstaple and with friends who have used Little Bridge House, I offered to run the Devon bike ride three years ago. The numbers have grown year on year and we welcome all bikes, trikes and quads to join in. Don’t worry if you’ve not attended a group ride before, you’ll be made very welcome!’
This festive fundraiser raised over £2000 in 2016 and Laura Board, community fundraiser at CHSW, said:
‘This really is a highlight in our Christmas calendar. The children and parents love to see the hundreds of motorbikes riding into the hospice and spreading so much festive cheer! Christmas is a very poignant time for our families and we are very grateful to Carl and everyone involved with Santas on a Bike for their fundraising and for making some very special joyful memories our families can treasure.’
With pick up points in Taunton, Wellington, Tiverton and South Molton, there’re lots of opportunities for new bikers to join in. For more information contact Carl on 07835 606 169, or search Santas on a Bike Little Bridge House on Facebook.
