This May, the Clevedon resident hitting the ground running as he takes on Bristol's Half Marathon
At the age of 70, most people might be putting their feet up – but not Tim Crisp

This May, the Clevedon resident will be lacing up his trainers and hitting the ground running as he takes on the Great Bristol Run Half Marathon alongside his son Joe, in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Tim is raising funds for Charlton Farm, the local CHSW hospice nestled in the countryside at Wraxall, which supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families from across the region.

Tim tells us more about how he was introduced to the local charity.

“I used to walk through the beautiful bluebell woods surrounding Charlton Farm,” says Tim. “One day, my wife and I realised what the building was… a children’s hospice. In my previous job, I had a client whose grandchildren were supported by the hospice.

The way she spoke about Charlton Farm with such gratitude and admiration, has always stuck with me.

Charlton Farm is one of three CHSW hospices supporting families through short breaks, emergency care, specialist play, and end-of-life support. With running costs exceeding £12 million a year and less than 11% of funding coming from the government, CHSW relies heavily on community support and fundraisers like Tim.

But Tim isn’t stopping at 13.1 miles. In June, he’ll embark on another extraordinary feat – walking the entirety of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a stunning and challenging 186-mile trail that winds its way around Wales coastline.

Hollie Thorogood, Events Fundraiser at CHSW, shared her admiration:

“We’re so excited to cheer Tim on this May! His dedication is truly inspiring, and the money he’s raising will go a long way in supporting children and families across the South West. We can’t thank him enough.
