Portishead Cycling Club and Clevedon Riders Pedal Towards a Global Goal in Charity Challenge for local children’s hospice
Members of Portishead Cycling Club (PCC) and Clevedon and District Riding Club are gearing up for their latest fundraising endeavour, cycling towards a shared goal to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Starting on Monday 3 February, three dedicated teams will race to complete an impressive 40,000km – the equivalent of a lap around the globe.
This challenge, organised by Portishead Cycling Club, is the latest in a series of charity events aimed at supporting a range of good causes. Since April 2020, PCC has raised over £25,000 for various charities, including the Trussell Trust, Gympanzees, St. Peter’s Hospice, the Jessie May Trust, and Be More Ben.
CHSW is a local children’s hospice that provides care for babies, children, and young people throughout the South West. Their services include short breaks, specialist play, sibling activities, and end-of-life care. With annual operational costs exceeding £12 million across its three hospice locations, CHSW relies on voluntary donations, with less than 11% of its funding coming from the government.
Ben, spokesperson for Portishead Cycling Club, shared his enthusiasm: “This event is a fantastic way for our clubs to come together and support such an important cause. We’re excited to raise both funds and awareness, and we hope to see other local clubs join in future challenges to build on our growing success.”
