Festive fun raises £1,000 at shopping centre Advent Day
Festive fun and goodies galore were up for grabs at a Bristol shopping centre.
Christmas revellers enjoyed getting in the festive spirit at Willowbrook Shopping Centre in Bradley Stoke as part of its Advent Day initiative.
Each shop in the centre is allocated a day during Advent to hold a community activity.
Staff and volunteers at the centre’s CHSW shop joined the fun, holding a cake sale, tombola and raffle.
The Advent Day also coincided with the scaled down Santas on a Bike event which had to be cancelled due to storm Darragh.
Instead, bikers with their festively decorated machines put their rides on display at the shopping centre for the day for people to enjoy.
The event raised more than £1000 for CHSW.
Willowbrook Shopping Centre is also running a Giving Tree Gift Appeal this year where customers can purchase a gift for children supported CHSW from the tree of gift ideas displayed at the centre.
CHSW Area Fundraiser for Bristol Amanda Gallagher said: “This is a true example of the community coming together to raise some Christmas cheer.
“Despite the challenges of Storm Darragh, the event was a true success a huge thank you must go to Willowbrook Shopping Centre for hosting this wonderful community event that helped to raise money and awareness for Children’s Hospice South West."
If you have been inspired by this story and are thinking of supporting a local charity in 2025, our CHSW team would be delighted to hear from you.
