How much will it cost me to do a charity skydive?
Our charity-funded place Skydive participants are asked to pay a £50 non-refundable deposit when booking and to raise a minimum sponsorship of £400 before your skydive date to confirm your jump. This is broken down as:
- £200 balance of the cost of your skydive to be received by CHSW 4 weeks before your skydive date. If this is raised via your sponsor form, you will need to pay CHSW 4 weeks before your skydive date. If this is raised through your online fundraising page, it will automatically be received by CHSW
- £200 plus any additional fundraising before or after your skydive will go to Children’s Hospice South West to care for children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Our self-funded place Skydive participants are asked to raise a suggested sponsorship of £195 before your skydive.
Don’t forget – you can choose to raise more than the minimum amount! The sky is the limit!
Can I choose to pay for the skydive myself?
Absolutely! If you would like all of your sponsorship to go to CHSW then you can pay the deposit and the remaining balance! Many of our skydivers do choose this option and raise as much as they can in sponsorship.
Can I have my skydive recorded?
Yes, you can.
- Hi res photos and Gopro video £120
- Gopro (on instructors hand) £90
Please email Cornish Parachute Club to book your photos and video.
I have a charity-funded skydive can I claim Gift Aid on my fundraising?
As your sponsorship is paying towards the charity-funded skydive, you will need to be transparent with your donors. We are unable to claim Gift Aid on the first £400 raised towards your skydive. Therefore, to make things simple we advise the following:
• When setting up your online fundraising page please do not allow Gift Aid to be claimed
• Do not allow donors on your sponsorship form to tick the Gift Aid box
• Add this clear statement to your online giving page and sponsorship form: £200 of the sponsorship raised will be funding the Skydive and the remaining sponsorship will support care at Children’s Hospice South West.
Can anyone jump?
If you are aged 40 years or over you are required to have a signed medical certificate
There is unfortunately a maximum weight guideline of 14 stone or 87KG.
All participants will be required to complete a medical information and declaration form which needs to be handed in alongside the booking form.
What does freefall parachuting involve?
Technically the jump is called a Tandem Skydive. You will be taken up in a light aircraft to 10,000 ft before freefalling through the air (without the parachute deployed) for 5,000ft at 120MPH!
You will be harnessed to a professional parachute instructor at all times through the descent. Your instructor will then control your landing. You will get to ride the parachute down to the ground!
Your jump and training will be completed in one day.
What time do I need to arrive for my jump?
All skydivers will be given an allocated arrival time by The Cornish Parachute Club prior to the event date. Your arrival time will be approx 1 hour prior to your actual jump time. This is so you can complete your training and hand in any outstanding medical forms. You cannot request the time you jump as this is decided upon by the Parachute club dependant on a number of factors. Your time may also be delayed on the day due to weather conditions. We advise bringing a picnic blanket and refreshments or you can purchase food from the café.
f you have any questions, please get in touch with Little Harbour reception.
What sort of training will I receive on the morning of the skydive?
The Cornish Parachute Club will give you a full comprehensive run down of what will happen during your skydive with information of what you will need to do during your freefall and for landing. A full safety brief will also be gone through with you - if you arrive late and miss the training you will not be allowed to jump.
What happens if the weather is not the right conditions?
You still need to attend on the morning of the parachute jump unless you have been contacted otherwise – if the parachute jump has to be cancelled you will be offered an alternative date or a refund on the day.
