Businesspeople face spell 'behind bars' to support CHSW

14 October 2024 CHSW

Business people from across Bristol are to face a spell behind bars – to raise money for charity.

The van load of ‘prisoners’ from businesses across the area are taking part in Jail and Bail which will see them ‘jailed’ for a series of fictitious crimes to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The ‘prisoners’, all wearing orange prison boiler suits, will be taken to the Old Bridewell Police Station in Bristol on October 25 where they will be charged with their crimes before being fingerprinted and having their mugshots taken.

Then they will go in front of the notorious ‘no nonsense’ judge, Director of Fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West, the ‘Right Honourable’ Paul Courtney to face their punishment.

Each prisoner will be given the task of raising £999 in bail in just a matter of hours to ensure their release from the cells.

The prisoners will be allowed access to their laptops, phones and contacts book to chivvy up family, friends and colleagues to donate to ensure they can avoid further servings of prison porridge. The jailbirds will be hoping those wanting them freed will donate using their individual JustGiving pages.

All the money raised in bail will go to Children’s Hospice South West.

‘Criminals’ being ‘locked up’ include representatives from the Federation of Small Businesses, Wessex Garages, SoMax Finance, Cabot Circus and Utility Warehouse.

Among the crimes including charges of ‘bad refereeing decisions’ and ‘wearing a crop top to the office’.

CHSW Corporate Fundraiser Amanda Gallagher said: “We are delighted to bring our fantastic Jail and Bail fundraiser back to Bristol and can't wait to share a great day of fun, and fundraising with our participants.

A huge thank you must go to everyone involved this year. Their fundraising will support families going through the most unimaginable of times.”
