Supermarket serves up porridge to fuel CHSW riders
Cyclists taking part in Children’s Hospice South West’s Ride for Precious Lives will be fuelled by porridge – thanks to Tesco.
Staff at the Tesco store in Brislington will be handing out pots of porridge to riders as they kick off the challenge which will see them cycle 220 miles over three days from July 12 -14 from Charlton Farm in Wraxall to Little Harbour hospice in St Austell, Cornwall.
The donation of the porridge was organised by the store’s community champion Paula Croydon who will be handing out the breakfast snack, helped by colleagues.
In her role Paula works to support the local community, bridging the gap between the retailer and local community groups and charitable causes.
The team at Brislington help by donating items for raffles and events and offering bucket collection opportunities.
The store also offers local groups the chance to benefit from its community bookcase initiative which raises hundreds of pounds.
CHSW have been nominated for support via this initiative in June, during Children’s Hospice Week.
CHSW Area Fundraiser Amanda Leonard said: “Paula and her colleagues at Tesco Brislington have been extremely helpful.
“We are grateful for the opportunities to raise money and awareness of our work through this support from the store.”
Paula said: “'The support and care that CHSW provides to families is amazing and we are always happy to help support their fundraising events.”
