A Wonderful Day at Pentillie Castle in Support of Children's Hospice South West
On Saturday 23 March, the beautiful gardens of Pentillie Castle and Estate in Saltash, St. Mellion, were generously opened to the public in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
All garden entry fees from the day were kindly donated to the charity, helping to make a real difference for the families they support.
Even before the event officially opened at 11am, eager garden-lovers were already lining up to explore the stunning grounds. Throughout the day, the garden welcomed a steady flurry of visitors.
Under CHSW’s marquee and at the ticket station, both long-time supporters and those learning about the charity’s work for the first time gathered to chat. Hospice information leaflets were available for those wanting to find out more, and CHSW’S Liskeard Friends Group ran a very popular table-top sale, drawing lots of interest.
In total, it is estimated that over 200 visitors stopped by the marquee during the day. Though the weather looked uncertain at first, visitors were treated to a dry and sometimes sunny day, perfect for enjoying the spring colours starting to bloom across the gardens. The castle’s homemade refreshments were also a big hit with guests, offering a delicious way to take a break and soak in the views.
Most importantly, thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, the event raised an amazing £2,313 for Children’s Hospice South West. This support will help CHSW continue to provide vital care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Bethany Rudge, Area Fundraiser for CHSW, said:
