Whirlwind Sports Encourage Santas to Freestyle

11 November 2020 chsw Events, Fundraising

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is excited to announce that it will be working in partnership with Whirlwind Sports for its Santas on the Run goes Freestyle FREE virtual event this December.

CHSW’s festive fundraiser usually sees hundreds of Santas running around RHS Rosemoor, Bristol Harbourside and Eden to raise vital funds for CHSW and its children’s hospices; Little Bridge House, Charlton Farm and Little Harbour. This year, due to the pandemic, the event is taking place virtually 11 – 13 December and Whirlwind Sports is once again supporting the event as a community partner.

As well as having shops throughout Cornwall Whirlwind Sports pride themselves on encouraging community participation in keeping active.

Paul Billing, founder member of Whirlwind Sports said; “Our family have been in business throughout the Duchy for over 30 years and know how important community, health and wellbeing is.

The outstanding work the hospice offers throughout our community is so vital and we are proud to support them in any way possible.

Whirlwind Sports are community partners for Santas on the Run goes freestyle

Over the weekend of 11-13 December supporters are being encouraged to choose their own route, distance and festive attire making Santas on the Run goes Freestyle something everyone can get involved in. Whether it is 2km run in a santa hat, 5 miles cycled in elf ears or a Christmas jumper walk, CHSW has a weekend full of festive fun planned. There will be virtual warm ups, fancy dress competitions as well as ways for local schools and businesses to become involved in the fun.

Kiley Pearce, Events Fundraiser from CHSW, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with Whirlwind Sports again for Santas on the Run goes Freestyle. They are such fantastic ambassadors for being active and we hope that our event participants will also be excited about what Whirlwind Sports add to our event.”

Those taking part are being asked to raise sponsorship or make a donation to enable the charity to continue to provide care for children and families when they need it most, whether that be at the hospice, at home or virtually. Any participant who raises or donates £15 or more will also receive a medal.
