A Summer Serenade in Bristol
The Clifton College Summer Serenade takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 27th June in the College’s stunning Chapel. Featuring talented young musicians from the College accompanied by The Bristol Ensemble, it is guaranteed to be an auditory delight!
The Bristol Ensemble is the city’s only professional orchestra, comprising a core of 25 musicians with a further 50 musicians all of whom are experienced players in a range of musical genres. The Ensemble has flexible configurations, from a piano trio through to a full symphony orchestra.
This year the College’s Summer Serenade Concert is supporting local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which provides care for children who have life-limiting conditions and are not expected to live into adulthood.
Ann Juby, Trusts & Grants Fundraiser at CHSW, said ‘We are delighted Clifton College is supporting CHSW for this wonderful event. The Chapel is a spectacular location for the Summer Serenade and we hope the venue will be filled to near its 500 capacity.’
CHSW’s local hospice, Charlton Farm, located just 8 miles from the college, offers families respite and relaxation as well as palliative and end-of-life care. Ann says, ‘The hospice is full of love and laughter, where families can forget their worries for a while, be a family again and receive the very best care for their child. I urge anyone to come along to this event, enjoy an evening of the most splendid music in superb surroundings and learn a little more about the services we provide to families.’
Dr Tim Greene, Head Master of Clifton College, said, ‘It is a real privilege to share our concert with CHSW and in a small way support the amazing work that they do. For our pupils the evening gives a great opportunity for them to play with a professional orchestra. I hope that as many of you as possible will come to the evening, enjoy the music and support CHSW. I look forward to welcoming you on the evening of 27th June.’
