Staff face fears and smash fundraising target for children’s hospice
Employees at Bristol-based recruitment agency Kingston Barnes have faced their fears to successfully smash a £10k fundraising target for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Employees were encouraged to break boundaries and push their limits by taking part in a ‘Charity Challenge Month’ in September. Staff did skydives, climbed 10 peaks in 24-hours in Snowdonia, and even came face to face with snakes and wild cockroaches!
The company raised a total of £10,957 for CHSW after hearing about the vital care the charity offers local families when it scooped the Charity of the Year award at the Bristol Life Awards in May 2022.
James Kingston, Managing Director of Kingston Barnes said: "We pledged at the start of the year to raise £10,000 for this incredicble charity and come October, we were a little nervouse whether we would acheive this total as we had a big hill to climb to reach this target. But...we are over the moon to announce our fundraising total as £10,957!
We are honoured to raise money for such a great cause and help CHSW support many families and children across the South West.
Kingston Barnes also sponsored the CHSW Sports Lunch 2022 in October. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, two-course lunch and were entertained by a host of sporting heroes in an interactive Q&A at The Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol.
And staff did not stop there, hosting their very own ‘Bristol’s Biggest Charity Quiz’. Along with festive food, a fabulous raffle and a top quiz, the team managed to raise a total of £2,661 which contributed towards their final fundraising figure.
The Charlton Farm hospice, near Wraxall offers vital care to more than 200 children with life-limiting conditions, as well as bereavement support to a further 200 families. The charity provides care and support to families, including specialist services such as palliative care, family respite, emergency support, end of life care and a bereavement support.
Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Fundraiser for the charity, said: “Kingston Barnes is an incredible supporter of Children’s Hospice South West and we’re thankful to all who have been involved throughout 2022. We’re really excited to continue our partnership in 2023.
“The amount raised by staff is enough to pay for more than 500 hours of vital care.”
