Sporting stars do lunch and raise more than £10k for children’s hospice
Stars from the world of sport took centre stage a special fundraising event for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) on Thursday.
The Sports Lunch at the Seat Unique Stadium (formerly Gloucestershire County Cricket Stadium) featured fascinating insights into top-level sporting careers and raised over £10,000 for CHSW.
Olympic weightlifter Sally Bennett; Bristol City legend Scott Murray; ex-professional boxer Glenn Catley; Bristol Bears player Sam Jeffries; and Gloucestershire cricketers Tom Smith and James Bracey all fielded questions following a drinks reception and two-course lunch sponsored by recruitment consultancy Kingston Barnes.
Guests were also able to bid for a series of ‘money can’t buy’ prizes, including signed sporting merchandise, luxury villa stays and experience and hospitality packages.
Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Fundraiser for CHSW, said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in our Sports Lunch, and for raising such a fantastic amount of money to help to make the most of short and precious lives across the South West.
Charlton Farm currently offers vital care to more than 200 children with life-limiting conditions, as well as bereavement support to a further 200 families and we can only provide this special care thanks to such incredible support and generosity.
