Sam FM Bristol is to partner with the Children's Hospice
Sam FM Bristol, part of Celador Radio, has announced it is to support local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) for the foreseeable future. CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice, which supports children diagnosed with life limiting conditions and their families, is located just six miles from the radio station’s hub in Bristol.
Sam FM Presenter, Ian Downs, has been an active supporter of the charity for the past year, hosting its hugely successful Glitter Ball, as well as visiting families and children at the hospice over the festive season. Ian, otherwise known as ‘Downsy’, has been instrumental in securing the collaboration and will be stepping forward as the ambassador for the partnership.
CHSW Community Fundraiser, Olly Slym, said ‘We’re excited to be working with the team at Sam FM and look forward to having Downsy attend our events, such as Jail & Bail, in his role as ambassador. He’s so passionate about the cause and already spends much of his free time helping the charity, it seems perfect for Sam FM to get on board too and help raise awareness of Bristol’s only dedicated children’s hospice.’
One of the many fundraisers in the pipeline is a Charity Podcast, which hopes to raise funds and awareness of Charlton Farm, which relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to over the £3million costs it needs each year. CHSW delivers a range of services free of charge to families, including short breaks, specialist play, music therapy, a dedicated siblings team, palliative and emergency care, end of life care, bereavement support and specialist medical care - all available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
