Recycle your Christmas tree and raise money for children’s hospice
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is offering a Christmas tree recycling service for some households in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
Last Christmas, ‘treecyclers’ raised more than £5k to help provide vital care for local families. This year, the charity is collecting real trees in even more locations in return for a donation.
In North Devon collections are taking place in Barnstaple, Braunton, Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Lynmouth, Lynton, South Molton, Bideford, Northam, Appledore, Westward Ho!, Clovelly and parts of Exmoor (postcode areas EX31, EX32, EX33, EX34, EX35, EX36, EX39, TA23 and TA24).
There will also be collections in Torquay, Paignton, Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton (postcode areas TQ1, TQ2, TQ3 and TQ12), as well as in Cornwall, in St Austell, Bodmin, and surrounding villages (postcode areas PL23, PL24, PL25, PL26, PL30 and PL31).
In Somerset, trees will be collected in Taunton in conjunction with St Margaret’s Hospice (TA1, TA2 and TA3), as well as in Watchet and Minehead (TA23 and TA24).
For full details of postcode collection areas can be found here.
Volunteers from Biffa will be picking up the trees between January 11-13 (January 11-15 in Taunton), and taking them for recycling. Collections can be booked in advance on the CHSW website until Thursday, January 5.
CHSW area fundraiser Henrietta Olsson said: “This is such an easy, green and charitable way to recycle your Christmas tree, while helping to support our children’s hospices.
The money raised from collecting and recycling trees will help make a huge difference at the most difficult of times, so don’t wait – book your collection in today!
“We’d like to say a huge thank-you to Biffa, who are generously donating their time and vehicles to help us collect the Christmas trees – we are very grateful for their support.”
