Colin’s tribute to The Queen raises thousands for children’s hospice
An illustration of Her Late Majesty the Queen buying a Hocking’s ice cream at Westward Ho! has raised an incredible £4,260 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
North Devon artist and cartoonist Colin Petty said he was inspired to create his tribute entitled ‘One Last One’ after seeing an image of The Queen and Paddington Bear after her death in September.
He’s since sold hundreds of prints with the help of Daniel Dalley from Bideford company OICY Gifts and Prints, which printed them for free, with all the money going to CHSW.
Colin, from Westward Ho!, said he was delighted to be able to do something to remember The Queen and mark her death, while raising money for CHSW, which runs the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in Fremington.
The print is still available to buy and he has now created a special limited edition Christmas card version, which is available to buy on CHSW’s online Christmas shop for £2.50, or £10 for a pack of five.
CHSW North Devon area fundraiser Gubs Hayer said: “We love Colin’s tribute to The Queen – and of course Hocking’s – and are very grateful to him and Daniel for their support.
We’re thrilled that such a fabulous piece of artwork has raised such an incredible amount of money to help provide vital care for local families.
“The Christmas card version of the card is also very special we’re already selling lots of them on our website, so get in quick if you’d like some to send to friends and family this Christmas.”
