Lydgate Hotel's luscious cream teas for CHSW
Lydgate House Hotel at Postbridge on Dartmoor recently took part in The Big South West Cream Tea to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Guests enjoyed sampling their scones and tea on the terrace of the late Victorian country house which has stunning views over Dartmoor, and raised £107 for CHSW in the process.
Lydgate House Hotel has been under the new ownership of Sarah Gibson since April 2021 and is being run by Sarah and Kelly Ashley. The ladies were keen to support CHSW after seeing an advetisement for people to get involved with The Big South West Cream Tea.
Reflecting on the day Sarah and Kelly said; ”What a great day with amazing weather, we met some lovely people who enjoyed sitting out on our terrace overlooking Dartmoor; here at Lydgate House Hotel.
"We came across the advert for the Cream Tea event, and thought it would be great to join in and help to raise money for such a deserving cause.
We are very grateful to all our guests and non-residents who were generous in their donations and helped to make this event a success for Children's Hospice South West. We will definitely be taking part next year!
Zoe Partridge, Area Fundraiser for CHSW collected the donation from the Lydgate House Hotel and said; “We are so grateful to Sarah, Kelly, their team and their guests for getting behind this fundraiser. It is absolutely fantastic to see the return of fundraising events such as this and we are so grateful for this support in our 30th anniversary year.”
CHSW runs three children’s hospices in the south west including Little Harbour in St Austell which currently supports more than 145 children and their families. Little Harbour provides respite stays, end of life care, bereavement support and now also offers care in families’ homes and support virtually.
