Footballers turn to golf to raise charity funds
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) was delighted to receive a cheque for £685 from Clevedon United Junior FC’s recent fundraising event.
The football club held its first ever golf day last month at Mendip Spring Golf Club. Two teams of twelve, representing parents and coaches, battled it out for a claret jug trophy, kindly donated by Brunel Engraving Company.
In glorious conditions, the coaches team came out on top to be the inaugural champions.
Club Chairman, Colston Ridge, presented a cheque for £685 from proceeds of the event to CHSW Area Fundraiser Julie Draper at Charlton Farm.
Julie said: “I’d like to thank everyone from Clevedon United who were part of a wonderful day and who donated to our cause. The work we do wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of people in the community raising voluntary funds. We are extremely grateful.”
The club also expressed its gratitude to all those that took part and particularly the main event sponsors CW Removals & Storage and Benchmark Project Management (UK) Ltd and the 9 hole sponsors: Clevedon Hair Company, CrystalsAndBitsUK, Avril’s Fencing & Timber Products, M.S. Windows, Severnside Financial Planning, Mathison PPHB Ltd, Clevedon Felt Roofing Ltd, Acorn Property Group and Moy Materials.
The club would also like to thank Thatcher’s and Tesco for donating prizes and to Mendip Spring Golf Club for their first-class hospitality.
