Children's Hospice South West is delighted to have been chosen as one of the charity partners for CITY Community Trust, Exeter’s leading health and wellbeing charity.

Along with Age UK Exeter, Julian House and Force Cancer, Children’s Hospice South West,have been selected to receive official partner status following an open application process. 

The charities, all based in Devon, offer support to those most in need across a wide range of people in the local community and will support each other with cross party services and promotional support for fundraising activities. The primary focus will be health and wellbeing events, whether it be physical or mental. 

CITY Community Trust organise a number of high profile events in Exeter from Family Fun runs to a full distance marathon which is held in May. The charity partners will be able to offer free places at selected events for those looking to fundraise for their chosen charity as well as encourage their supporters along the way and on the day, they will help with water stations, supporters’ areas and huge congratulations at the finish. 

Pete Ferlie, who is CCT’s health and wellbeing officer says: “It’s great to have the extended support for our community, working with these great charities will mean our reach into the community can go even wider.”

Age Uk’s Jacqui Cornish, who is the community fundraising and partnerships manager, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as an official charity partner and look forward to working together to create a range of opportunities for people, of all ages, to become more active whilst raising money to help us deliver services to vulnerable older people across the city.”

Children’s Hospice South West echoed those views and are too looking forward to beginning a new partnership. Laura Robertson, the community fundraiser for the charity said:

We are absolutely delighted to be partnered with CITY Community Trust for the next two years.

This is a wonderful opportunity for CHSW to raise awareness of the work we do with local families in Exeter and help us raise much needed funds. It currently costs £9.8million every year to fund our three hospices across the south west, providing respite and care for over 500 children with life limiting conditions and their families.”

Sarah Lakey, senior community and events fundraiser for Julian House said: “Julian House is delighted to have been chosen as a charity partner by CCT.  The major challenge for most good causes is raising funds. In our case we also have to raise awareness about the real issues which impact on homelessness which force men and women onto the streets. There is no doubt that once people are made aware then support follows.  

“CCT have a terrific programme of events and activities - all of which will help us to achieve these goals. It could well be that we will try and involve some of our clients in helping out, demonstrating very vividly that these are ordinary men and women facing difficult challenges but are still willing and able to give something back to the community at large."
