Charity partnership flying high
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is delighted being Bristol Airport’s charity partner again for 2018. Each year Airport staff are asked to vote and support one charity and, for the fourth consecutive year, CHSW is the nominated charity of the year.
Last year alone the partnership raised over £25k and fundraising activities are continuing in 2018; the next activity arranged is on 28th July when eight Bristol Airport team members will walk 80k in just one day! A golf day is also arranged in September challenging business partners and suppliers to compete against the Bristol Airport team.
Bucket collections will continue throughout the year thanks to the charity’s fantastic volunteers. Many frequent flyers may recognise Denise and Garry Gooding who’ve been collecting at the Airport on behalf of CHSW for many years.
The couple catch 2 buses and travel 3 hours to Bristol Airport but despite the long journey, Denise looks forward to it each week. She said, “It's lovely to chat to people who've travelled from all over the world, we meet people from all walks of life and even have regular givers who pass through the airport every week who will always greet us with a smile, come over for a chat and drop a couple of coins in our bucket.”
Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, said “It’s been a pleasure to work with the fantastic team at Bristol Airport over a number of years. Denise and Garry are also very close to the staff and have been warmly welcomed into the Bristol Airport family. Denise and Garry have supported CHSW for over 18 years and we can't thank them enough!”
Jacqui Mills, Public and Community Relations Manager, Bristol Airport said: ‘We are delighted with the charity partnership and very grateful to our passengers and staff for their ongoing support. An incredible £66,000 has been raised for the charity since 2015. The success of the charity relationship is a credit to the CHSW team especially Denise and Garry, as they really are part of the Bristol Airport team.’
