Cavanna Homes continues incredible support for children’s hospice
Cavanna Homes has announced that it will continue fundraising for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as its charity of the year until the end of 2023.
The housebuilder has raised nearly £40,000 for CHSW since 2019 and has vowed to keep supporting the charity’s three South West hospices – Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, and Little Harbour in Cornwall – for a further two years.
Cavanna employees have organised golf days, bake sales, dress-down days, raffles and quizzes, and have cycled hundreds of miles to help the hospices provide vital care for local families. Staff took part in CHSW’s £50 Challenge, where they had 50 days to turn £50 into as much money as possible, and the company has also supported the charity by sponsoring fundraising events, and by joining the CHSW Business Club.
In 2019, staff jumped to the charity’s aid, helping to raise £15,000. As part of their efforts, a trio of keen cyclists from the company’s head office in Torquay took part in the charity’s Ride For Precious Lives cycle challenge. Michael Newman (Head of Land and Design), Ed Brown (Development Manager) and Ben Rowntree (Land Manager) cycled 205 miles across three counties and raised more than £3,000.
Michael Newman said employees voted to continue supporting CHSW as their charity of the year for 2020 but unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most fundraising activity was postponed until the following year.
After a year of fundraising in 2019, we felt we had much more support to give, so we were proud to once again work alongside CHSW as our charity of the year for 2021.
During the course of 2020 and 2021, the firm raised more than £16,945 by hosting raffles and quizzes. In July last year, Cavanna employees once again challenged themselves to take on CHSW’s Ride for Precious Lives, exceeding their £6,000 fundraising target by raising £7,724.50.
In October, it held a charity golf day for local business, contractors and employees at Woodbury Park near Exeter, raising £4,613 through ticket sales, donations and an evening auction. And in November, the company was proud to sponsor the entertainment at the charity’s 30th Anniversary Gala, also held at Woodbury Park.
Emma Perry, Head of Fundraising for CHSW said: “The support from everyone at Cavanna has made such a difference and we are incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm, hard work and love for our hospices.
“It is only through such incredible support that our care teams can be there for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, and help them create such precious memories in the time that they have together.
“After such a challenging fundraising climate, to know that Cavanna is continuing to support the charity is simply fantastic.”
