Brixham charity shop celebrates five fantastic years
Staff, volunteers and customers at Children’s Hospice South West’s Brixham charity shop have been celebrating a successful first five years in the town.
The shop in Fore Street opened in February 2015 and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to support local children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
More than 26,000 bags of donated goods have been sorted, with 54,000 pre-loved items given a new lease of life. Volunteers have donated nearly 26,000 hours to support the shop.
The shop, which also has its own vintage and retro area downstairs, is so well supported by people in Brixham it has issued a special appeal for more donations.
Area retail manager Julie Johnston said: “Our Brixham shop offers some fantastic pre-loved and brand-new items but it really has become a victim of its own success.
We are in urgent need of good-quality unwanted items, including womenswear, shoes and fashion accessories.
“We would also be extremely grateful to receive any donations of men’s and children’s clothing, as well as children’s toys, games and homewares.”
Stock donations can be dropped off at the shop anytime Monday-Saturday between 9am and 5pm, and Sunday from 10am-4pm.
