A full kit list and advice on what else you should bring is available on the Ride for Precious Lives web page.
You will need to be 18 years at the time of the event to be able to take part.
Your luggage will be transferred between each hotel across the 3 days. We ask you bring no more than 1 overnight bag and 1 day bay. You will be provided with luggage labels for each.
The ride is designed to offer a challenge to cyclists of all abilities. You will need a good level of fitness in time for the event, each day you will cycle between 60 to 90 miles incorporating several hills. As long as you start training early enough, even new cyclists can take part. Our training plan offers you some ideas to be event ready. You can also download the route and incorporate some of the local sections in your training plan.
We have limited capacity on single supplement rooms and this option is only available to the first 15 riders who pay the single supplement of £50. If part of a Team we will prioritise you share with another member within your group or alternatively you will share with another participant. Woman and men who are unknown to each other will not be placed in the same room.
Your accommodation for Thursday night is not included in the registration fee.

As places are limited for this event to a capacity of 120, we ask each rider to commit to raising the suggested minimum sponsorship of £1,250 for Ride for Precious Lives 2025. Your registration fee covers the cost of your hotel stay, food and cycling jersey. If you do not think you can commit to raising this sponsorship please call Kiley on 01726 871 800 to discuss prior to registering.
A decision will be made each day if conditions are deemed unsafe to cycle. This will consider wind, torrential rain, thunder and a temperature above 28C or any condition that it is considered dangerous to continue - then we may decide to abandon the event for that day. But a little rain won’t stop us!
By signing up to Ride for Precious Lives you will be communicated with via email once a month and invited to bi-monthly Zoom meetings to support your training, fundraising and answer questions about the weekend.
You will also receive support via phone from your Area Fundraiser and Kiley, Event lead of Ride for Precious Lives.
You will also be offered to join a Private Facebook Group for those who are only taking part your event – this group is great to get support from your fellow Ride for Precious Lives riders.

You will need to make your own travel arrangements to get to Little Harbour near St Austell for registration on the Thursday evening and to travel home from the finish at Charlton Farm, near Wraxall in North Somerset. Many cyclists choose to travel by train, we recommend you book early as spaces with bikes are limited and book up quickly.
Your bike will be your best friend during the 3 long days of cycling - we strongly advise that you use a road bike as they will help you go faster and will be more comfortable. When choosing which bike to use remember the terrain, you may wish to leave the carbon wheels at home! You can complete the ride on a hybrid or mountain bike but these will be slower and you must have slick road tyres and inflate them to the highest possible pressure. Electric bikes are not permitted.
CHSW work in partnership with third party providers to ensure the ride route will be marked, with an experienced support crew who will provide first aid and mechanical assistance across the 3 days. We would expect that you would be able to do simple bike repairs/maintenance in the event of a puncture during the event. CHSW staff will also be on hand to offer emotional support, encouragement along the way and huge cheers as you reach each hospice.
