Rainbow Run is a 5k fun run event with a difference! There’s no prizes for being the first to cross the finish line, this event is all about making memories with your friends and family whilst raising money for Children's Hospice South West.

Along the route you can walk, jog, run or even skip your way through paint stations where marshals will shower you with bright powder paints. Creating the most amazing, vivid colour explosion you'll ever see so when you finish you'll be well and truly rainbowed!

Take part in our in person event at RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall on Saturday 15 June 2024.We have limited numbers at each event so register early to be covered in paint at one of the 7 paint stations along the 5k route.

Not at all, you can walk or run the 5K route as it is not about speed but more about having as much fun as possible! The race is not timed, so the more competitive Rainbow Runners amongst you should self-time for anyone desiring a personal best.

Once you have registered, you will receive an email on the next working day. This will include links to set up your Just Giving pages and information about the event. You will also receive other emails from us to support you with your fundraising along with a call from one of our fundraisers. Your runner numbers & Fundraising pack will be sent via post.

Your runner numbers, fundraising pack, sponsor form and coin collection card will be sent out from the beginning of April. If your friend or family has registered you, they will be sent your pack.

We suggest all Rainbow Runners wear sunglasses to prevent paint drifting into your eyes. It is the adult's responsibility to ensure children in their group wear sunglasses during the event.

We will have sunglasses for sale on the day for £2.

Yes, of course! the course is flat and on a solid surface. Carers can take part for free.  Please contact us on 01726 871 800 if you require someone to push you in a wheelchair

The event will go ahead if it is raining. If the weather is deemed unsafe, a decision will be made 48 hours prior to the event and you will be notified by email. We will also update the Rainbow Run Cornwall 2024 Facebook event page.

Rainbow Run is not a race and therefore everyone gets a medal as they cross the finish line!

The Rainbow Run powder paint is non-toxic, 100% safe and biodegradable.  It is technically edible, although we do not advise that you eat it as its not very tasty! If you have a skin allergy or respiratory condition we would recommend that you consult your doctor for advice.

The paint is 100% natural and water-soluble and will not cause any damage to the environment. However, we still put in a clean-up team to remove the paint on the ground after the event.

The paint will only be thrown in our designated Rainbow stations by trained Rainbow throwers. The paint will be aimed onto the body of the runners rather than the face to reduce the amount of paint getting into the mouth, nose and eyes.

However we recommend that you consider wearing sunglasses/goggles to protect your eyes from the colour as you will inevitably get some paint on your head/face. Runners who are not so keen to be in the direct firing line of the Rainbow throwers are recommended to stick to the inside of the running lane to receive the least amount of paint.  Use the outside lane for maximum explosions of the Rainbow!

Come along wearing a shiny white t-shirt (and running gear you don’t mind getting messy) or perhaps wear something more unusual like a wedding dress, tutu or fancy dress! So long as it’s white so you can see the multi-colours in all their splendour at the end.

Well-fitting trainers are recommended but please don’t wear your expensive ones, as they will end up every colour of the Rainbow. The coloured pigment should wash out of most fabrics, but some of the more stubborn colours may stain certain fabrics so please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting stained.

You will leave Rainbow Run looking very colourful, and we recommend a few showers to rinse off the paint. If you have stubborn colours in your hair washing up liquid works a treat to rid the colours. If your hair is very light, or colour treated, you may wish to wear a hat or headscarf to minimise the paint contact.

At the finish line we will have cleaning stations with soft brushes so that you can give yourself a good dusting off to remove most of the powder. You won’t be 100% clean but you will be able to remove most of the paint.

We recommend that you leave a towel in your car to cover your seat or spare clothes to put on top of your running gear to ensure you get as little paint as possible on your seat.

CHSW cannot be held responsible for any damage or paint getting on participants vehicles, public transport or private property.

CHSW will have photographers taking photos on the day and filming the rainbow craziness. If you want to get shots right in the midst of the action we recommend covering cameras/phones with plastic wrap or bringing a disposable camera.
